The Ministry of Home Affairs has just issued an official dispatch to the Government proposing a National Day holiday schedule for 2026 for cadres, civil servants and workers.
Accordingly, for cadres and civil servants, the Ministry of Home Affairs proposed a plan to take a 5-day consecutive holiday on the occasion of National Day, September 2.
Officials and civil servants are expected to have a day off on September 2, 2026 and 1 day before that is September 1, 2026. Implement the swap from Monday (August 31, 2026) to Saturday (August 22, 2026) every week.
Thus, this group will have a National Day holiday in 2026 from Saturday, August 29, 2026 to Wednesday, September 2, 2026.
With the National Day holiday in 2026, civil servants and public employees will have 5 days off, including 2 National Day holidays according to regulations, 2 weekly days off and 1 day exchanged for a weekly day off.
For employees, the employer decides to give employees 2 days off, including September 2 and 1 day before or after.
Enterprises must notify employees of the 2026 National Day holiday plan at least 30 days before implementation.
If the weekly day off coincides with the holiday or Tet holiday prescribed in Clause 1, Article 112 of the Labor Code, the employer shall arrange compensatory weekly day off for employees on the next working day as prescribed in Clause 3, Article 111 of the Labor Code.
The Ministry of Home Affairs also encourages employers to apply the 2026 National Day holiday for employees as a plan for civil servants and public employees, while encouraging more beneficial agreements for employees.
