On the morning of January 14, a delegation of the National Assembly Standing Committee and the National Electoral Council led by Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Vu Hong Thanh inspected and supervised election work in Dien Bien province.
At the working session, provincial leaders reported on the situation of deploying the election of National Assembly deputies of the XVI term and the election of People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.
Currently, Dien Bien has established the Provincial Election Steering Committee with 20 members, the Provincial Election Committee with 30 members; 100% of communes and wards have established Steering Committees, Election Committees and sub-committees to assist in accordance with regulations.
The whole province is assigned 3 units to elect National Assembly deputies, elect 7 deputies; 11 units to elect Provincial People's Council deputies, elect 50 deputies; commune level has 263 units to elect, elect 926 People's Council deputies.

The first round of consultations was organized on schedule; it is expected to introduce 12 candidates for National Assembly deputies, 96 candidates for Provincial People's Council deputies and 1,686 candidates for commune-level People's Council deputies.
In particular, to ensure the election work takes place, the province also dispatched 27 provincial-level civil servants and public employees to help communes implement election work.
National Assembly Vice Chairman Vu Hong Thanh highly appreciated the proactive and serious spirit of Dien Bien province in the election preparation work.
The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly requested the province to continue to closely follow the direction of the Central Government; pay attention to creating favorable conditions for candidates for National Assembly deputies introduced by the Central Government to localities.
Along with that, it is necessary to review, update, and fully supplement voter lists, ensuring the voting rights of citizens, especially those who are working and studying far from their place of residence, people with disabilities, and the elderly; ensuring security, order, and social safety to serve the election.

Previously (afternoon of January 13), the working delegation of the National Assembly Standing Committee and the National Electoral Council worked with Bung Lao commune (Dien Bien) on the preparation for the election of National Assembly deputies of the XVI term and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.
On this occasion, the delegation presented 50 gifts to families with meritorious services to the revolution and poor households in the commune.
