On November 14, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and his delegation had a working session with Ba Ria - Vung Tau province on the socio-economic development situation in the locality at the end of the year and in the coming time.
Reporting at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Van Tho - Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province informed about the production and business situation, public investment,... of Ba Ria - Vung Tau in the past time achieved many good results. In which, 11/12 economic and financial indicators increased compared to the same period and were higher than the plan for 2024. Total budget revenue to date has reached 89.99% of the plan (88,600 billion VND).
Investment attraction to date has reached more than 85,500 billion VND, of which foreign investment capital (FDI) reached 95.95% of the plan, domestic investment capital reached 168.3% of the plan...
In recent times, Ba Ria - Vung Tau has focused on drastically and effectively implementing solutions on administrative reform, improving the investment environment; accelerating connecting traffic infrastructure projects; removing obstacles, supporting businesses... This helps the locality continue to be an attractive destination for international investors, maintaining its position in the leading group of the country in attracting FDI capital.
Notably, the petrochemical project of Hyosung Vina Chemical Company Limited (total investment capital of 1.67 billion USD) and Long Son Petrochemical Company Limited (over 5.3 billion USD) have come into operation. However, these two projects are currently facing many difficulties due to the impact of the recession cycle, so investors are proactively implementing appropriate adjustment solutions. Localities have compiled and reported to the Prime Minister for consideration and direction.
During the meeting, delegates also discussed and gave many comments on the advantages and difficulties of Ba Ria - Vung Tau, as well as on the contents and suggestions of petrochemical enterprises in the area.
Speaking at the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated the results that Ba Ria - Vung Tau province has achieved in 2024 such as rapid disbursement of public investment; projects implemented quickly and ahead of schedule,... Many key projects about to be implemented such as expanding Con Dao airport; extending power grid to Con Dao... are attracting public attention.
Many issues were assigned by the Deputy Prime Minister to functional agencies to coordinate in reviewing the plan, reporting to the Prime Minister for consideration and direction; and responding to businesses.
"Petrochemical enterprises are facing huge challenges. We need to have appropriate policies, share but ensure consistency. However, enterprises also need to have more detailed reports on progress, technical technology, economic efficiency, and submit procedures to competent ministries and branches for consideration. And we also need to speed up progress, pay attention to environmental protection in a beneficial direction," Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha emphasized.
