On November 14, the National Assembly Standing Committee met to consider and decide on the arrangement of administrative units (ADUs) at district and commune levels for the 2023-2025 period of 12 provinces and cities.
The list of localities considered for administrative unit arrangement in this period includes An Giang, Dong Thap, Ha Nam, Hanoi, Ha Tinh, Ho Chi Minh City, Phu Tho, Son La, Quang Ngai, Quang Tri, Tra Vinh, Vinh Phuc.
Previously, at the 16th session in 2024, with 100% of delegates present in agreement, the Hanoi People's Council approved the Project on arranging administrative units at district and commune levels for the period 2023-2025.
The Hanoi People's Council approved the policy of rearranging commune-level administrative units in 20 districts, towns and cities in the city.
The number of commune-level administrative units reduced after the rearrangement is 61 units, including 46 communes and 15 wards. This plan is lower than the original plan (reducing 70 units) because the 3 districts of Dan Phuong, Hoai Duc, Thanh Tri will not be rearranged in this phase; it will be implemented in the Project to build districts into districts in the coming time.
Notably, the project approved the merger and arrangement of many wards in 6 central districts of Hanoi, including:
Ba Dinh District: Merge the entire natural area and population size of Nguyen Trung Truc ward and Truc Bach ward into Truc Bach ward.
Dong Da District: Merge the entire natural area and population size of Kham Thien ward and Trung Phung ward into Kham Thien ward;
Merge part of the natural area and population size of Nga Tu So ward into the entire natural area and population size of Khuong Thuong ward to form Khuong Thuong ward;
Merge a part of the natural area and population size of Nga Tu So ward (remaining) into the entire natural area and population size of Thinh Quang ward to form Thinh Quang ward;
Merge part of the natural area and population size of Trung Tu ward and the entire natural area and population size of Phuong Lien ward into Phuong Lien - Trung Tu ward;
Merge a part of the natural area and population size of Trung Tu ward (remaining) into the entire natural area and population size of Kim Lien ward to form Kim Lien ward;
Merge the entire natural area and population size of Quoc Tu Giam ward and Van Mieu ward into Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam ward.
Ha Dong District: Merge the entire natural area and population size of Yet Kieu ward, Nguyen Trai ward and Quang Trung ward into Quang Trung ward.
Hai Ba Trung District: Merge the entire natural area and population size of Dong Mac ward and Dong Nhan ward into Dong Nhan ward;
Merge a part of the natural area and population size of Cau Den ward into the entire natural area and population size of Bach Khoa ward to form Bach Khoa ward;
Merge a part of the natural area and population size of Cau Den ward (remaining) into the entire natural area and population size of Thanh Nhan ward to form Thanh Nhan ward;
Merge the entire natural area and population size of Quynh Loi ward and Bach Mai ward into Bach Mai ward.
Long Bien District: Merge part of the natural area and population size of Sai Dong ward into the entire natural area and population size of Phuc Dong ward to form Phuc Dong ward;
Merge a part of the natural area and population size of Sai Dong ward (remaining) into the entire natural area and population size of Phuc Loi ward to form Phuc Loi ward.
Thanh Xuan District: Merge the entire natural area and population size of Thanh Xuan Nam ward and Thanh Xuan Bac ward into Thanh Xuan Bac ward;
Merge the entire natural area and population size of Kim Giang ward and Ha Dinh ward into Ha Dinh ward.
