On the basis of implementing Resolution No. 136/2024/QH15 dated June 26, 2024 on the organization of urban government and a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Da Nang City, including policies to allow the establishment of Da Nang Free Trade Zone near Lien Chieu Port, in the past time, the People's Committee of Da Nang City has urgently developed and completed the Project to establish Da Nang Free Trade Zone, carried out procedures to propose the establishment, and sent it to the Ministry of Finance for appraisal to submit to the Prime Minister for approval.
On June 13, 2025, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 1142/QD-TTg on the establishment of the Da Nang Free Trade Zone. The Da Nang Free Trade Zone will have 7 locations and select strategic investors, attracting investors to express according to the specific roadmap and implementation plan.
The Da Nang Free Trade Zone has functional areas such as production, logistics; trade - services; digital technology industry, innovation and other types of functional areas as prescribed by law.
The Da Nang Free Trade Zone is developing in conjunction with the International Financial Center to turn Da Nang into a high-quality service center, creating momentum to spread to the Central Highlands region - Central Highlands and the whole country.

At the ceremony, the People's Committee of Da Nang City presented a memorandum of understanding on investment in the Da Nang Free Trade Zone to investors: Terne Holdings Group and One Destination on cooperation in developing the Da Nang Free Trade Zone;
BRG Group - JSC, Thanh Binh Phu My Joint Stock Company, Lien Thai Binh Duong Import-Export Company Limited, Phuong Trang Investment Joint Stock Company, Newtechco Group Joint Stock Company, representatives of the Joint Venture of investment enterprises NewTechco Group Joint Stock Company and Phytopharco Vietnam Company Limited, Saigon Da Nang Investment Joint Stock Company.
The People's Committee of Da Nang City said that it will create the most favorable conditions and support procedures for domestic and foreign investors when conducting research and project implementation in the Da Nang Free Trade Zone.
Da Nang City has proactively reviewed and developed a plan with a series of tasks that need to be focused on implementing in the coming time to soon put the Da Nang Free Trade Zone into operation.
At the same time, the city will continue to propose additional new, more open and superior mechanisms and policies to apply to the Da Nang Free Trade Zone under the authority of the National Assembly, the Government, and the Prime Minister to submit to competent authorities for consideration and decision; at the same time, study and propose expanding new potential locations, develop and exploit space at sea appropriately to expand the boundaries of the Da Nang Free Trade Zone after merging with Quang Nam province.
