On January 7, the inspection and supervision delegation of the National Assembly Standing Committee and the National Election Council led by Politburo Member, Standing Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh worked with the Lang Son Provincial Election Commission on the preparation for the election of National Assembly deputies of the XVI term and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.
The report at the working session said that Lang Son Provincial People's Committee has issued a decision to establish the Provincial Election Committee with 31 members; and at the same time established sub-committees and working groups to advise on the development of plans, professional guidance documents, summarize reports and prepare facilities for elections according to regulations.
At the provincial level, by December 31, 2025, the locality has established 3 National Assembly Deputy Election Boards and 13 Provincial People's Council Deputy Election Boards.
At the commune level, the Party Committees of communes and wards all established Election Steering Committees headed by Party Secretarys. Up to now, 65/65 People's Committees at the commune level have issued decisions to establish the Election Committee and the Election Committee for People's Council Deputies at the commune level for the term 2026-2031 in accordance with regulations.

After the first consultation conference, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lang Son province proposed that the National Assembly Standing Committee consider adjusting the structure of local delegates to run for National Assembly deputies.
Lang Son province elected 7 National Assembly deputies of the XVI term, including 4 deputies residing and working in the locality, and 3 deputies introduced by the Central Government.
For the Provincial People's Council, the Conference agreed that the number of elected delegates is 50, and introduced 95 candidates to ensure the surplus according to regulations.
At the commune level, the total number of People's Council delegates elected for the 2026-2031 term is 1,271 people; the number of people introduced for candidacy after the first consultation is 2,427 people.
In the coming time, the Steering Committee and Election Commissions at all levels of the province will continue to promote propaganda about the purpose and meaning of the election.
Proactively orient the structure, composition, and number of delegates according to the approved personnel project; strive to ensure a high voter turnout, sufficient number of elected people, in accordance with the structure and law.
Working groups will strengthen inspection and guidance in areas with a large number of voters, promptly removing arising difficulties.
Speaking at the working session, Standing Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh highly appreciated the proactiveness and seriousness of Lang Son province in election preparation.
According to him, the implementation steps so far basically stick to the plan, in accordance with regulations and guidelines of the Central Government; the allocation of structure, composition, and number of delegates ensures requirements and has the necessary surplus.
The Standing Deputy Prime Minister requested the province to continue to focus on personnel work, ensuring the quality and capacity of candidates; and at the same time deploy democratic, equal, safe, and economical elections, truly a festival for the whole people.
Localities need to prepare plans to handle possible situations; promptly resolve citizens' complaints and denunciations before, during and after elections; strengthen propaganda at the grassroots level, especially in the context of elections close to the 14th Party Congress and Lunar New Year.
At the working session, the working delegation also listened to a report on the results of the election work in Ky Lua ward.
