Recently, social networks have spread a clip about an 8th grade male student of Hoang Hoa Tham Secondary School (Lao Cai ward) who is said to have been assaulted twice by a group of students from other schools in just 3 days.
On June 1, in an exchange with Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Le Thi Lam - the victim's mother - said that for the first time her son was beaten with a stick, then continued to be attacked with a helmet to the point of hospitalization for treatment.
According to Ms. Lam, by the night of May 31st, her son could fully sleep after many days of fear.In previous days, he almost couldn't sleep. Now, every time he stands up and sits down, he still feels dizzy," Ms. Lam said sadly.
After the incident, the male student was taken to Lao Cai City General Hospital for examination. Initial results recorded that he suffered head injuries, with many bruises and abrasions on his body.
To conveniently monitor their child's health, the family then transferred the child to Lao Cai Provincial General Hospital (500-bed hospital) for treatment. Currently, the child is prescribed medication and continues to be monitored for signs related to head injuries.
According to the male student's mother, the incident started on May 25th. At that time, her son was walking with a friend when a teenager named Quan stopped him and asked: "You are teasing me?".
Although the male student affirmed that he did not know and had no conflicts, about an hour later, he was repeatedly hit in the back and thigh by this subject with a broom handle in the Nhac Son Park gate area.
After being beaten for the first time, the male student did not tell his family about the incident for fear of retaliation.
On May 27, while going to a friend's birthday party and then going to the square area of Lao Cai ward to sit and drink water, the male student saw the person who had beaten him, so he came to ask for the reason.
The family also reflected that, just after the question: "Why did you hit me?", the male student continued to be chased and assaulted by the group of subjects as the content of the clip is spreading on social networks.
I heard my child recount it and was very heartbroken. If he had run into a deserted alley that day, I don't know how serious the consequences would have been," Ms. Lam choked up.
Ms. Lam affirmed that her family had sent a report to the police agency.
On May 31, functional forces came to the hospital to work with the child, and at the same time summoned related people to take statements and report the incident.
Ms. Lam said that her son is an 8th grade student at Hoang Hoa Tham Secondary School.
The group of students involved is believed to be studying at Kim Tan Secondary School. In the group, there are 4 people, 3 people directly participated in beating the male student.
I just hope the case will be handled strictly, sufficiently deterrent so that my child can be assured to go to school. My child is currently very scared, saying he doesn't want to go out anymore but only wants to have his parents pick him up and drop him off," Ms. Lam confided.
The case is being verified and clarified by functional agencies.
