On the afternoon of June 28, in Hanoi, the Ministry of National Defense organized a conference to assign tasks to forces participating in overcoming the consequences of the earthquake in Venezuela.
Speaking at the conference, General Nguyen Tan Cuong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Standing Committee of the Central Military Commission, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA), Deputy Minister of National Defense - emphasized that this is a noble international task, contributing to vividly expressing the foreign policy motto and viewpoints of our Party and State; contributing to enhancing Vietnam's prestige and position in global disaster response activities, as well as affirming the traditional friendly relationship and good comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and Venezuela.

Recalling that all forces participating in overcoming the consequences of earthquakes must identify this as an extremely heavy and dangerous task, General Nguyen Tan Cuong requested officers and soldiers to pay attention to solving well the relationship and closely coordinate with the Vietnamese People's Public Security Forces as well as international forces, authorities, and people of the host country.
At the same time, the delegation needs to proactively help the people of the host country in the permitted conditions; pay attention to ensuring discipline, safety for people and equipment; comply with the legal regulations of the host country and the local area where the working delegation performs its duties.
Military personnel need to promote the tradition and good qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers, combine propaganda with specific actions to enhance the image and position of the Vietnam People's Army, creating a good impression with international friends and the government and people of Venezuela.
Providing information on preparations, Major General Pham Hai Chau, Deputy Director of the Department of Rescue and Relief (General Staff), said that the force participating in supporting Venezuela in overcoming the earthquake disaster includes 82 officers and soldiers, including 26 officers and 56 professional soldiers, divided into 4 departments.
In which, the command and agency department includes 11 officials led by Major General Pham Van Ty, Deputy Director of the Department of Rescue and Relief as head of the working delegation.
The Engineering Team for Restoring Collapses of the Engineering Corps includes 31 officers and soldiers (5 officers, 26 professional soldiers); The Military Medical Team includes 30 officers and soldiers (9 officers, 21 professional soldiers).
The team using professional dogs for search and rescue of Intermediate School 24, Border Guard Command includes 10 officers and soldiers (1 officer, 9 professional soldiers) and uses 8 professional dogs.
Equipment and goods the delegation is expected to carry are about 88 tons, including equipment for tasks and support for Venezuela. Among the support and task goods are 50 tons of dry rations, 1,600 sets of tents and 15 generators packaged in 628 packages.
Speaking to receive the assignment, Major General Pham Van Ty - Deputy Director of the Department of Rescue and Relief emphasized that officers and soldiers in the delegation deeply realize that this is an extremely honorable and proud task, but also very heavy, requiring a high sense of responsibility, determination and proactiveness in overcoming all difficulties, especially in harsh weather conditions and urgent work requirements.
