This morning (December 20), at the National Convention Center, Hanoi, the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly, the President, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense solemnly held the ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA), and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day. This is a great event for the country and the Army.
At the ceremony, Mr. Pham Huy Giang - Head of the Central Emulation and Reward Committee - announced the President's decision to award the Ho Chi Minh Medal to the Vietnam People's Army.
According to Decision No. 1166, the President awarded the Ho Chi Minh Medal to the Vietnam People's Army for its long tradition, great contributions, and outstanding achievements in the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.
At the ceremony, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, General Secretary To Lam - Secretary of the Central Military Commission - awarded the Ho Chi Minh Medal to the Vietnam People's Army.
Before that, delegates watched the epic art program "80 years under the Victory Flag" to celebrate the anniversary.
The epic program includes special music and dance performances, summarizing the entire history of the birth, fighting and victory of the Army as well as affirming the great role of the Vietnam People's Army in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
The delegates listened to General Secretary To Lam read a commemorative speech; speeches by representatives of Veterans; and speeches by representatives of the young generation.
Through 80 years of building, fighting, winning and growing, our Army has built a glorious tradition, summarized in the praise of President Ho Chi Minh: “Our Army is loyal to the Party, filial to the people, ready to fight and sacrifice for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, for socialism. Every mission is completed, every difficulty is overcome, every enemy is defeated.”
