On the morning of April 25, in Da Nang, the Party Committee and the Command of Military Region 5 organized a ceremony to receive the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces (LLVT). Also attending were leaders of central and local departments, ministries, and branches; delegates from agencies and units under the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense; Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, People's Armed Forces Heroes.
At the ceremony, Lieutenant General Le Ngoc Hai - Member of the Party Central Committee, Commander of Military Region 5 - affirmed that Military Region 5 is a particularly important strategic area for national defense, security, foreign affairs and socio-economic development of the country. Over more than 80 years of construction, combat and growth, generations of cadres and soldiers of the Armed Forces of the Military Region have made many glorious feats in the resistance wars, making important contributions to the victory of the cause of national liberation and reunification, typically with the feats of Ba Gia, Nui Thanh, Van Tuong, Dong Duong, Doi Tranh - Quang Thanh, contributing to the victory of the historic Spring 1975 General Offensive and Uprising.
On February 13, 2026, the President signed a decision to confer the title "Hero of the People's Armed Forces" on Military Region 5. This is a noble award of the Party and State, recognizing great contributions, particularly outstanding and unexpected achievements in training, combat readiness, building the People's Army, consolidating national defense, contributing to the cause of building socialism and protecting the Fatherland.
At the ceremony, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, General Secretary and President To Lam awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces to Military Region 5.
Speaking at the ceremony, General Secretary and President To Lam emphasized that Military Region 5 is a strategically important area, rich in revolutionary traditions; generations of cadres and soldiers are always absolutely loyal to the Party, the Fatherland and the People, overcoming many difficulties and hardships, and achieving many outstanding feats of arms.
General Secretary and President To Lam praised the great achievements that the armed forces of the Military Region have achieved, and at the same time requested that in the coming time, the armed forces of the Military Region continue to thoroughly grasp and effectively implement the Party's resolutions on the strategy of protecting the Fatherland; proactively grasp the situation, advise correctly, accurately, and promptly; build a "lean, compact, strong" force, improve the quality of training and combat readiness.
Along with that, the armed forces of Military Region 5 need to closely coordinate with Party committees and local authorities to build a solid defense area; closely combine socio-economic development with consolidating national defense and security; promote mass mobilization, military rear policies, firmly consolidate the "people's heart battlefield". At the same time, pay attention to building a clean and strong Party Committee of the Military Region, building a contingent of cadres with firm political bravery, meeting the requirements of tasks in the new period.
General Secretary and President To Lam believes that, promoting the glorious tradition and the noble title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces, officers and soldiers of the Armed Forces of Military Region 5 will continue to strive and excellently complete all assigned tasks, contributing to firmly protecting the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland in the new situation.
