This is an important event, marking the 50-year journey of strong construction and development of the locality since the date of complete liberation.
Attending the ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission; Mr. Nguyen Duc Hai - Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh and the Central Delegation; international delegations and Da Nang City.
On the local side, there were leaders of Quang Nam province, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces, along with a large number of cadres, soldiers and people.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasized the historical significance of March 24, 1975 - an important milestone in the resistance war against the US to save the country, marking the event of Quang Nam's complete liberation. He said:
"Quang Nam is a land rich in patriotism and revolutionary traditions, the birthplace of many loyal soldiers and national heroes who contributed to the country's glory. During the years of the resistance war, the army and people of Quang Nam promoted the indomitable and resilient spirit, turning this land into a fierce battlefield but also a shining symbol of revolutionary heroism.
The victory of March 24, 1975 not only completely liberated Quang Nam but also created an important premise, contributing to the historic victory of April 30, 1975, national reunification."
Expressing his joy at the great achievements that Quang Nam has achieved after 50 years of liberation, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia acknowledged the efforts of the Party Committee, government and people of the province in the process of socio-economic development, maintaining security and defense, and constantly improving people's lives. He believes that Quang Nam will continue to promote tradition and innovation to rise strongly in the new development stage.
According to Mr. Luong Nguyen Minh Triet - Secretary of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee, the 50th anniversary of the province's liberation is an opportunity for Quang Nam to look back on its development journey and affirm its outstanding achievements over the past half century.
From a poor province, dependent on the central budget, Quang Nam has now risen to become a fairly developed locality in the region, with a significant contribution to the national budget. In 2024, the scale of the province's economy will reach about 129 trillion VND, an increase of more than 40 times compared to 1997. The economic structure has shifted towards modernity, in which industry - services account for more than 88%. State budget revenue is estimated at VND 27,600 billion, more than 217 times higher than in 1997. Average income per capita reaches over 84 million VND/year, people's lives are constantly improved, while preserving and promoting traditional cultural values.
Within the framework of the event, a special art program with the theme "Quang Nam - mai mai mai ca si" recreated the heroic historical milestones of Quang Nam, from the revolutionary struggle movement to the period of construction and innovation. The program attracted the participation of many people and tourists, contributing to reviving the heroic atmosphere of the historic years.
In addition, gratitude activities such as giving gifts to policy families and honoring individuals and groups with outstanding contributions to the development of the province were also solemnly held.
