Peruvian Congress awards medal of honor to President

The Peruvian National Assembly awarded President Luong Cuong the Grand Cross of Honor, the highest honor given to foreign leaders.

On the afternoon of November 13 (local time), within the framework of an official visit to the Republic of Peru, at the National Assembly headquarters in the capital Lima, President Luong Cuong met with President of the Peruvian National Assembly Eduardo Salhuana.

According to VNA, the President of the Peruvian National Assembly expressed his admiration for Vietnam's remarkable socio-economic development achievements in recent times, emphasizing that thanks to the diligence and development aspirations of the people and the wise leadership of generations of leaders, Vietnam has overcome historical challenges to become a country with rapid and stable growth and sustainable social security policies, and has friendly and cooperative relations with other countries, including Peru.

The President of the Peruvian National Assembly affirmed that despite the geographical distance, the two countries have many similarities. Accordingly, the President of the Peruvian National Assembly hopes that in the coming time, the two countries will promote delegation exchanges, increase consultations, and learn from each other's experiences in all fields.

Regarding parliamentary cooperation, the two sides agreed that strengthening parliamentary relations is one of the important pillars of the two countries' diplomacy, contributing to promoting the overall bilateral relationship between Vietnam and Peru. Accordingly, it is necessary to promote cooperation between specialized agencies of the two countries' National Assemblies in training, fostering, improving the capacity of officials, exchanging experiences in research, general consulting and organizing to serve parliamentary activities.

On this occasion, President Luong Cuong also conveyed to the President of the Peruvian National Assembly his regards and invitation to visit Vietnam by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man at a time suitable for both sides.

President Luong Cuong hopes that the Peruvian National Assembly will pay special attention to creating conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to effectively implement investment projects in the telecommunications and oil and gas sectors in Peru, contributing to the economic development of both countries.

The President of the Peruvian National Assembly affirmed that the Peruvian legislative branch fully supports and will pay attention to creating favorable conditions for existing investment projects of Vietnamese enterprises in Peru, and hopes that more and more Vietnamese enterprises will come to Peru to invest.

At the end of the meeting, to show respect for the positive developments in the relationship between the two countries over the past 30 years, the Peruvian National Assembly decided to award President Luong Cuong the Grand Cross of Honor, the highest award of the Peruvian legislature for foreign leaders.

Speaking after receiving the medal, President Luong Cuong expressed his honor to receive the Medal of Honor of the Peruvian National Assembly from the National Assembly Chairman, affirming that this noble award demonstrates the Peruvian National Assembly's respect for the bilateral relationship between Vietnam and Peru, and is also a very meaningful recognition of the development of the friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
