On November 14, the City Party Committee's Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption and Negativity held a meeting to give opinions on the situation and results of activities in the past time, key tasks in the last months of 2024; and direction on handling corruption and negativity cases and incidents under monitoring and direction.
According to the Steering Committee, from the beginning of 2024 up to now, the work of preventing and combating corruption, waste, and negativity has been directed and implemented methodically, synchronously, and drastically by the City Party Committee, the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, and the Steering Committee of the City Party Committee, in conjunction with comprehensively promoting the work of Party building and rectification and the political system.
In particular, the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and the Steering Committee have focused on leading and directing the serious and urgent implementation of the opinions and conclusions of the General Secretary, Head of the Central Steering Committee, regulations, directives, plans, and conclusions of the Central Committee, of the Working Groups, and Inspection Groups...
District, town, city party committees, party committees directly under the City Party Committee; city departments, agencies and branches conduct a summary of Program No. 10-CTr/TU dated March 17, 2021 of the City Party Committee on "Improving the effectiveness of anti-corruption work; practicing thrift and combating waste in the period of 2021-2025"; thoroughly implement Directive No. 24-CT/TU dated August 7, 2023, Plan No. 171-KH/TU dated August 14, 2023 of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee on "Strengthening discipline, discipline and responsibility in handling work in the political system of Hanoi city".
Inspection, supervision and examination work has been strengthened, focusing on sensitive areas that are prone to corruption and negativity; focusing on inspecting and strictly handling party organizations and party members with signs of violations related to cases and incidents. Synchronously combining party discipline with administrative discipline and criminal handling.
Party committees, Party organizations, agencies and units strictly implemented the direction mechanism of the Central Steering Committee in coordinating the detection and handling of corruption and negativity through inspection, supervision, investigation, prosecution, trial and execution of judgments; 87 cases with signs of crime were transferred to the investigation agency for handling in accordance with the law.
Investigation, prosecution and trial work continued to be promoted, promptly investigating and strictly handling many serious and complicated corruption and negative cases that were of public concern.
The city's two-level prosecution agencies have handled 279 cases/601 defendants; prosecuted 142 cases/401 defendants; and tried 138 cases/381 defendants at first instance.
The Hanoi People's Court has held a first-instance trial, and the Hanoi People's Procuracy has exercised the right to prosecute and supervise the first-instance trial of three cases monitored and directed by the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption and Negativity.
The Steering Committee unanimously concluded the direction of handling 21/45 cases under monitoring and direction because the settlement had been completed according to the provisions of law. For the remaining 24 cases, the Steering Committee assigned the Party Committee of the City People's Court to directly monitor and direct the acceleration of the settlement of 8 cases; assigned the Party Committees of judicial agencies to continue directing the city's prosecution agencies to settle 1 case; for the rest, the City Party Committee's Steering Committee continued to monitor and direct the handling of 15 serious, complicated corruption and negative cases of public concern.
Ms. Bui Thi Minh Hoai - Politburo member, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of the City National Assembly Delegation, Head of the Steering Committee highly appreciated the City Party Committee's Internal Affairs Committee (standing agency) and members of the Steering Committee for performing well their duties and contributing to the overall work results of the Steering Committee since the beginning of the year.
Ms. Bui Thi Minh Hoai emphasized that it is necessary to speed up the progress of resolving cases, investigating, prosecuting, and trying corruption and negative cases under the monitoring and direction of the Central Steering Committee and the City Party Committee's Steering Committee.
In particular, from now until the end of 2024, 19 cases and incidents under monitoring and direction will be completely resolved and ended (including 8 cases assigned to the City People's Court, 11/15 cases and incidents monitored and directed by the Steering Committee).
