On the afternoon of November 13, local time, at the Casa de Pizarro Presidential Palace, President Luong Cuong and President Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra met with the press of the two countries to inform about the results of the talks.
According to VNA, speaking at the press conference, President Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra affirmed that over the past three decades, the two countries have gradually strengthened their friendship, cooperation and understanding on the basis of consensus on many issues from bilateral to multilateral levels and to date the two countries have become important partners of each other.
President Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra said that during the talks with President Luong Cuong, both sides expressed satisfaction and joy at the good development of bilateral relations over the past three decades, and agreed to continue to work together to promote and deepen the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
The Peruvian leader affirmed that during the visit of the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation, the two sides had important and effective discussions, addressing many bilateral cooperation topics, as well as regional and international issues of mutual concern. The two leaders also had open dialogue to seek new directions of cooperation for the benefit of the people of the two countries.
President Luong Cuong expressed his gratitude to President Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra, leaders and people of Peru for the support that Peruvian friends have always given to Vietnam.
Congratulating Peru on assuming the role of APEC Chair 2024, the President believes that the APEC Summit Week will be successful, contributing to promoting cooperation and connectivity in the Asia-Pacific region; further enhancing Peru's role and position in the international arena.
Announcing the results of the talks, the President said that he and President Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra shared very positive assessments of the level and development momentum of Vietnam-Peru relations in recent times, noting the increase in high-level dialogue, political trust and breakthrough progress in economic and trade relations.
The President said that the two sides need and can do more because the potential and room for economic cooperation is still very large, both in traditional fields such as oil and gas, mining, infrastructure, agriculture, and new fields such as digital transformation, renewable energy, semiconductor industry and artificial intelligence, based on the strengths of the two economies.
The Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), ratified by both countries, is an important framework to further tie the two economies together.
The President said that the two sides discussed and agreed on major orientations and measures to further deepen bilateral relations in many areas, including increasing delegation exchanges and high-level contacts, consolidating cooperation mechanisms and legal frameworks, enhancing diplomatic and consular presence, encouraging and facilitating business connections, promoting trade and investment, and connecting transportation and logistics; and enhancing cultural, educational and people-to-people exchanges.
Along with that, the two sides wish to increase the exchange of students, tourists, businessmen and experts between the two countries, enhance exchanges, cooperation and understanding, thereby consolidating the traditional friendship.
President Luong Cuong was pleased to announce that the two sides had agreed to issue a Joint Statement on strengthening Vietnam-Peru relations, saying that the two countries have met all the conditions to upgrade their relations to a higher level. With high political determination, the two sides will conduct discussions to soon announce this new partnership framework.
