On the afternoon of June 30, at the headquarters of the People's Committee of Phu Quoc Special Zone, An Giang Provincial Police held a ceremony to announce the decision to mobilize, arrange commanders and officers to work at Phu Quoc Special Zone Police.
This is an important event, marking a turning point in ensuring security and order in a special area, the border of islands - which is expected to become an international economic - tourism center in the near future.
According to the decision of the Director of An Giang Provincial Police, Phu Quoc Special Forces Police is organized with 5 professional and technical teams: General Team, Security Team, Order Police Team, Crime Prevention Police Team and Regional Police Team. Lieutenant Colonel Dinh Xuan Truong was appointed to the position of Chief of the Special Forces Police.
The launch of the Special Forces Police force is an important step to concretize the organization of the apparatus according to the urban government model, in line with the development orientation of Phu Quoc to become a special city directly under the Central Government in the future. At the same time, increase the presence of regular armed forces, be ready to handle security and order situations in large areas, scattered population, many sensitive factors of national defense, security and migration.
Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Nguyen Le Quoc Toan - Vice Chairman of Phu Quoc Special Zone People's Committee affirmed: The police force is a solid support for local Party committees, authorities and people. In the context that Phu Quoc is preparing conditions to host the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum in 2027, the requirement to ensure security and order becomes even more urgent.
hosting APEC 2027 is not only an opportunity to promote Phu Quoc to become a global destination but also puts great pressure on social management, crime prevention, tourism security, cyber security and safety for international events. Therefore, Phu Quoc Special Forces Police need to proactively coordinate with departments, branches, and functional forces to develop security protection plans early and from afar. At the same time, effectively advise local authorities in residence management, crime prevention, and protection of the legitimate rights of people and tourists.
The Vice Chairman of Phu Quoc Special Zone People's Committee also emphasized: "The locality believes and expects the Special Zone Police force to promote a high sense of responsibility, flexibility and creativity in handling work, contributing significantly to the goal of building Phu Quoc into a safe, civilized and livable city".
