At the ceremony, representatives of the Political Department of Military Region 5 announced the decisions of the Minister of National Defense on merging and reorganizing the Military Commands of provinces and cities under the Military Region 5. to establish the Border Guard Command and the Regional Defense Command under the Military Commands of provinces and cities.
Military Region 5 dissolves 114 District-level Military Commands under the Military Commands of affiliated provinces and cities.
The Ministry of National Defense merged and reorganized 5 Provincial and Municipal Military Commands under Military Region 5, including: Da Nang City Military Command, on the basis of merging the Quang Nam Provincial Military Command and Da Nang City; Establishing 5 Defense Area Command Committees under the Da Nang City Military Command (new). The regional defense command is equivalent to a Brigade; transferring the status quo of some units under the City Military Command.
Reorganize the Quang Ngai Provincial Military Command and Kon Tum Province into the Quang Ngai Provincial Military Command under the 5th Military Region; Establish 5 regional Defense Command Committees under the Quang Ngai Provincial Military Command (new); transfer some units under the Provincial Military Command to the original status.

Military Region 5 also announced the decision of the Minister of National Defense on reorganizing the Military Commands of Phu Yen and Dak Lak provinces into the Military Commands of Dak Lak province under the Military Region; Establishing 6 regional Defense Command Committees under the Dak Lak Provincial Military Command (new); converting some units under the Provincial Military Command to the original state.

At the ceremony, Military Region 5 also announced the Decision to establish 5 Border Guard Command Committees under 5 Provincial and Municipal Military Commands.
