The Department of Search and Rescue under the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army said on September 8 that it had mobilized 17,367 people (4,730 soldiers and 12,637 militiamen) and 243 vehicles of all kinds to carry out the task of overcoming the consequences caused by storm No. 3 .
As of 10:00 a.m. on September 8, 14 people died and 176 people were injured due to Typhoon Yagi . Specifically: 14 people died (Quang Ninh 4, Hanoi 3, Hai Phong 1, Hai Duong 1, Hoa Binh 4, Military Region 3: 1); 176 people were injured (Quang Ninh 157, Hanoi 8, Hai Phong 5, Hai Duong 5, Hoa Binh 1).
In the coastal area of Quang Ninh province, 38 vehicles were sunk, drifted, stranded, or missing. Meanwhile, 744 houses were damaged or had their roofs blown off (Quang Ninh 300, Bac Giang 89, Lang Son 158, Vinh Phuc 4, Yen Bai 49, Hai Phong 1, Hoa Binh 57, Thai Binh 15, Ha Nam 9, Thanh Hoa 62); 2 schools were damaged (Vinh Phuc 1, Thai Binh 1); 9,028 hectares of rice and crops were damaged (Yen Bai 81, Hoa Binh 47, Thai Binh 500, Ha Nam 6,300, Hai Duong 500, Hanoi 1,600); 16 broadcasting systems were damaged (Thai Binh); 5,702 trees were broken (Bac Giang 80, Vinh Phuc 202, Hai Phong 20, Quang Ninh 100, Nam Dinh 300, Ha Nam 200, Hung Yen 1,000, Ha Noi 2,800); 40 electric poles were broken (Bac Giang 6, Hai Phong 18, Quang Ninh 1, Nam Dinh 6, Hung Yen 9); 27 transformer stations were damaged (Vinh Phuc 9, Thai Binh 18); 3 fish cages were damaged (Hoa Binh).
Up to now, 38,047 households/141,843 people have been evacuated to safety (Military Region 3: 37,762 households/141,048 people; Hanoi Capital Command: 249 households/690 people; Border Guard: 36 households/105 people); 47 people have been rescued (Navy rescued 15; Coast Guard rescued 32); 4 bodies have been found and handed over to the locality (Hoa Binh Provincial Military Command).
The Department of Rescue and Relief said that the next deployment work requires strictly maintaining the on-call regime at all levels; continuing to search for missing people and overcoming the damage caused by Storm No. 3; implementing measures to prevent epidemics and diseases to ensure a good life for soldiers and people in the stationed area.
Do a good job of propaganda, organize visits and encourage military families, families of policy beneficiaries, and people with meritorious services in areas affected by storm No. 3.
Patrol and guard to ensure safety of units, warehouses, and military bases; closely check areas at risk of flooding and landslides and organize evacuation to safe places.
Previously, initial data reported at the Conference to assess the response direction, damage situation and implementation of urgent measures to overcome the consequences of storm No. 3 on the morning of September 8 showed that, as of 7:00 a.m. the same day, preliminary initial damage was 5 deaths (Quang Ninh 3, Hai Phong 1, Hai Duong 1); 186 people injured (Quang Ninh 157, Hai Phong 13, Hai Duong 5, Hanoi 10).
