On the morning of April 16, at the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Planning and Architecture, a ceremony was held to announce and award decisions of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee on personnel work.
At the ceremony, Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Hien - Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Home Affairs, on behalf of the city leaders, presented the decision assigning Mr. Truong Trung Kien - Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Planning and Architecture to hold the position of Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Planning and Architecture.
This assignment of power was carried out after Mr. Vo Hoang Ngan - former Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Planning and Architecture was approved by the National Assembly Standing Committee for the election results to hold the position of Deputy Head of the 16th National Assembly Delegation in charge of Ho Chi Minh City.
Mr. Truong Trung Kien was born in 1974, from Hanoi, with a PhD in Planning, Bachelor of Politics. During his work, he held many positions such as: Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Planning and Architecture, Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction, Head of the Urban Committee of Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, Chairman of Thu Duc District People's Committee.
Currently, the Department of Planning and Architecture of Ho Chi Minh City has 3 Deputy Directors including: Ms. Duong Thao Hien, Mr. Phan Van Tuan and Mr. Huynh Pham Tuan Anh.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Planning and Architecture was first established in 2002 on the basis of reorganization from the Chief Architect agency of Ho Chi Minh City.
By February 2025, in the process of arranging the apparatus, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council approved the policy of merging this department into the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction.
However, after 7 months of merger, by the end of September 2025, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Planning and Architecture was re-established and officially resumed operations from October 1, 2025.
