On the morning of April 29, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Soc Trang province solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
Attending the ceremony were Mr. Lam Van Man - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Soc Trang Province; Mr. Do Thanh Binh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Can Tho City Party Committee; leaders and former leaders of the province, departments, agencies and localities; Mother of Vietnamese Heroic Hero, Hero of the People's Armed Forces, Labor Hero, ..
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Lam Van Man - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Soc Trang Provincial Party Committee reviewed the great historical significance of the Southern Liberation Day, reunited the country, and emphasized the great achievements that the Party Committee, government and people of Soc Trang province achieved after 50 years of independence and unity, especially after 33 years of re -establishing the province.
Provincial Party Secretary Lam Van Man affirmed that Soc Trang has promoted the spirit of solidarity, the combined strength of resources, overcome all difficulties and challenges and achieved impressive results in many fields.
In terms of economy, in 2024, the province's economic growth will reach 7.07%, a fairly high growth rate compared to previous terms. The average annual economic growth rate in the period of 1993 - 2024 reached over 8.56%. The economic scale of the province in 2024 will reach VND80,147 billion, an increase of 53.3 times compared to 1992. GRDP per capita in 2024 will reach 66.5 million VND, an increase of 35 times compared to 1992.
The industrial production value in 2024 will reach VND29,870 billion, an increase of nearly 62.5 times. Total retail sales of goods and social consumer service revenue in 2024 will reach VND 106,050 billion, an increase of 123 times compared to 1992.
People's lives have improved, social security policies have been effectively implemented, the poverty rate has decreased by an average of 1%/year (of which Khmer poor households have decreased by 2%/year). The education and health networks are invested and upgraded.
The work of gratitude is focused on, and the province is making efforts to complete 8,673 houses for policy beneficiaries before June 30, 2025. The political system is consolidated, security and order are maintained, and consensus among the people is increasingly high.
On this occasion, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Soc Trang province presented gifts of gratitude to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, meritorious people and those who directly participated in the Spring Victory of 1975.
At the same time, the province also presented a symbolic board of housing support to 12 meritorious households in the area.
