Creating conditions for Vietnam to participate in super projects on semiconductors and AI of Korea

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man requested South Korea to share experiences and create conditions for Vietnam to participate in its super projects on semiconductors and AI.

On the afternoon of September 7, in Seoul, within the framework of his official visit to South Korea, Politburo member, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with South Korean Prime Minister Han Seong Sook, according to VNA.

At the meeting, the two leaders positively assessed the development of relations between the two countries, especially the maintenance of regular delegation exchanges at all levels, especially at high levels; affirming that Vietnam and Korea have become top important partners of each other in economy, trade and investment.

Regarding the direction of cooperation in the coming time, the two sides agreed to continue to consolidate political trust; strengthen substantive cooperation in the fields of defense, security, and diplomacy; promote economic, trade, and investment cooperation, towards the goal of increasing bilateral trade turnover to 100 billion USD in 2026 and 150 billion USD by 2030 in a balanced and substantive direction; promote scientific and technological cooperation and create conditions for Vietnam to participate in super projects on semiconductors and artificial intelligence (AI) of Korea.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man proposed that the Government and the National Assembly of Korea cooperate to effectively implement the results achieved during the visit to Korea by General Secretary To Lam (now General Secretary and President) in August 2025 and the visit to Vietnam by South Korean President Lee Jae Myung in April 2026; share development experiences and create opportunities for Vietnam to participate in Korean super projects on semiconductor and AI newly announced in June; actively exchange experiences in managing and developing international financial centers in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang; support Vietnam in training high-tech experts; expand the reception of high-quality labor and seasonal labor.

The National Assembly Chairwoman also requested Korea to continue to pay attention to and protect the legitimate rights of the Vietnamese community in Korea, including about 100,000 multicultural Vietnamese-Korean families; affirming that the Vietnamese National Assembly is committed to providing maximum support to the Korean community in Vietnam.

Assessing that Vietnam - Korea relations are developing very well, becoming increasingly profound with many important steps forward, Prime Minister Han Seong Sook highly appreciated the close cooperation between the National Assemblies of the two countries in the past time and believed that parliamentary channel cooperation will continue to be promoted; wishing Vietnam to continue to create favorable conditions for Korean businesses to do business and invest long-term in Vietnam.

Supporting the proposals of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, Prime Minister Han Seong Sook affirmed that he will promote cooperation with Vietnam in the fields of high technology and AI; emphasizing that the Korean Government will make efforts to protect the rights of Vietnamese citizens in Korea, improve the working environment and create favorable conditions regarding entry visas. South Korean Prime Minister Han Seong Sook also committed that the Korean side, with its experience in hosting the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 2025 Forum, will actively support Vietnam in successfully organizing APEC 2027 in Phu Quoc.

On the same day, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man received Chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea Kim Min Seok and Chairman of the South Korean National People's Power Party Jang Dong Hyeok.
