The two leaders were pleased that after 50 years of establishing diplomatic relations, Vietnam-Thailand relations have continuously developed strongly and substantially in all fields; emphasizing that the upgrade of relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2025 reflects the high level of political trust and determination of the leaders of the two countries in bringing bilateral cooperation into a new stage of development.
The two sides also highly appreciated the role and positive contributions of the National Assemblies of the two countries in promoting cooperation, completing the legal framework and effectively monitoring the implementation of bilateral agreements.
The Speaker of the Thai National Assembly emphasized that in recent times, the number of Thai tourists to Vietnam has grown strongly; at the same time, more and more businesses of the two countries are expanding investment and business in each country and expressed their desire for the two sides to continue to support and help each other's investors to participate deeply in each other's markets.
General Secretary and President To Lam requested the Thai Parliament to continue to pay attention, support and create favorable conditions for the effective implementation of cooperation agreements between the two countries, including the Action Program to implement the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for the period 2026 - 2031 just signed at the talks with Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, with many important cooperation contents in the fields of defense, security, trade, investment, science and technology, infrastructure connectivity, culture, education and people-to-people exchanges.
The Speaker of the Thai National Assembly agreed to coordinate with the Vietnamese National Assembly to strengthen cooperation; effectively implement the Cooperation Agreement between the two National Assemblies signed in 2023; strengthen delegation exchanges, high-level and all-level contacts; promote cooperation between specialized agencies, friendship parliamentary groups, female parliamentarians and young parliamentarians; and expand experience sharing in fields such as law-making, digital transformation, green growth and climate change response.
The two sides affirmed that they will closely coordinate in regional and international inter-parliamentary mechanisms such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) and the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF), contributing to strengthening ASEAN solidarity, maintaining peace, stability and sustainable development in the region.
