Immediately after the organization was completed, the Standing Committee of Thai Nguyen Provincial Party Committee established a Steering Committee for preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity consisting of 15 members.
Since the beginning of the year, the Steering Committee has issued more than 60 documents requesting sectors and localities to review and handle project projects that are behind schedule and have long-term problems with signs of causing loss and waste of the state budget.
Prevention work has been strengthened with more than 1,100 new documents issued, 138 conferences and training courses organized for more than 12,500 people, contributing to raising awareness and responsibility in performing public duties.
The inspection sector conducted 634 inspections, discovered 338 violating agencies, organizations and individuals, recommended economic handling of more than 11.6 billion VND and transferred 1 case with signs of criminality to the investigation agency.
The Investigation Police Agency accepted 25 cases and 69 defendants for corruption and abuse of position, of which 13 cases and 40 defendants were prosecuted.
The two-level court tried 16 cases and 102 defendants at first instance, recovered corrupt assets through investigation and trial of more than 1.88 billion VND and enforced more than 24 billion VND.
According to Ms. Hoang Thi Tho - Deputy Head of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Committee, in the coming time, the Steering Committee will continue to direct the synchronous implementation of preventive solutions, enhancing publicity and transparency in public service activities.
"The province focuses on controlling assets and income of people with positions and powers; promoting administrative reform, improving the investment environment, and proactively grasping the situation and promptly handling arising issues," Ms. Tho emphasized.
