Wasteful behavior must be dealt with.
This is the request of General Secretary To Lam at the 27th meeting of the Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption, Wastefulness and Negativity (PCTNLPTC) (Steering Committee), which took place this morning (December 31).
This information was announced by Mr. Dang Van Dung - Deputy Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission - at the meeting to announce the results of the 27th Session of the Steering Committee on the afternoon of December 31.
The Deputy Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission said that up to now, provincial Steering Committees have been strengthened and supplemented with waste prevention functions.
Typically, Hanoi City has reviewed more than 800 projects with signs of loss and waste, focusing on handling 3 projects, recovering more than 42,000 billion VND. "Thereby, it shows the seriousness of waste and the urgent need to handle wasteful behaviors," said Mr. Dung.
According to the policy set forth by the Steering Committee, there are four urgent issues to be carried out to prevent waste. There must be synchronization in both prevention and control, from low to high, especially mobilizing and building awareness of thrift. At the same time, agencies detect violations related to waste in the spirit of "handling one case, alerting the whole region". Along with that, it is necessary to review the waste prevention institution.
"We have the Law on Practicing Thrift and Combating Wastefulness, but it has not been strictly implemented. The Steering Committee requires a review to ensure strict implementation," said Mr. Dung.
The Deputy Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission also said that at the 27th Session of the Steering Committee, the General Secretary requested an inspection and conclusion of the two projects of Bach Mai Hospital and Viet Duc Hospital, Facility 2 in Ha Nam. The inspection must be concluded and completed before March 31, 2025, then measures must be immediately implemented to put them into operation, not to be prolonged.
"At the Steering Committee meeting this morning, General Secretary To Lam also requested that the Bach Mai and Viet Duc 2 Hospital projects be put into operation soon, "there can be no further delay" - Mr. Dung stated.
Pay special attention to the fight against waste.
Also at the announcement meeting, Major General Hoang Anh Tuyen - Deputy Chief of Office, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Security - said that in the coming time, the police force will continue to identify the work of preventing corruption and negativity as the top priority task.
In addition, the police force will "pay special attention" to the fight against waste.
Along with directing units to strengthen behavioral identification, the Ministry of Public Security will advise and recommend rectifying and overcoming loopholes and shortcomings that cause loss and waste.
"The Ministry of Public Security will focus on verifying cases with signs of law violations, investigating to clarify the nature, promptly preventing cases and incidents that cause loss and waste to thoroughly recover assets for the State," said Major General Tuyen.
According to Mr. Tuyen, in 2024, the police discovered nearly 5,700 cases with more than 10,200 subjects committing crimes related to economic management order, corruption, and positions; of which nearly 1,000 cases were crimes related to corruption and positions (an increase of nearly 14% compared to 2023), with more than 2,200 subjects.
In addition to major cases such as Phuc Son and Thuan An, the police force has prosecuted and investigated a number of cases causing loss and waste in the management of land resources, minerals, and construction investment... Typical cases include the case of loss and waste of mineral resources occurring at Hung Thinh Company; the case related to the Ban Mong Reservoir project (Nghe An).
Major General Hoang Anh Tuyen said that through the investigation, the Ministry of Public Security has advised the Politburo and the Central Steering Committee on anti-corruption, waste and negativity to direct the handling of cases to ensure objectivity, comprehensiveness and humanity.
