For the first time, the Politburo has disciplined two comrades who were former key leaders of the Party and State.

This morning (December 31), in Hanoi, the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption, Wastefulness and Negativity (Steering Committee) held its 27th meeting to discuss and give opinions on the 2024 Operational Results and the 2025 Work Program of the Steering Committee and the Results of Steering and Handling of Cases and Cases under the Steering Committee's jurisdiction in 2024, along with a number of other important contents.

General Secretary To Lam - Head of the Steering Committee - chaired the meeting. Also attending the meeting were many leaders and members of the Steering Committee.

On the afternoon of the same day (December 31), the Central Internal Affairs Committee - the standing agency of the Steering Committee, held an announcement of the results of the 27th meeting of the Central Steering Committee on preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity.

The announcement of the Central Internal Affairs Committee said that at the 27th Session, through discussion, the Steering Committee agreed on a number of contents.

Regarding the annual work results of the Steering Committee, in 2024, despite facing many difficulties, with the efforts and determination of the entire political system; the close and drastic leadership and direction with many new policies and viewpoints of General Secretary To Lam - Head of the Steering Committee; the efforts and attempts of the members of the Steering Committee and functional agencies, the work of preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity (PCTNLPTC) continued to be strongly implemented, achieving many important results, with new breakthroughs, more drastic and effective both at the central and local levels.

In particular, the work of building and perfecting the socio-economic management institution and anti-corruption work continues to be promoted, especially focusing on removing institutional "bottlenecks" and "knots" to unblock resources, serve socio-economic development and improve the effectiveness of anti-corruption work.

The Politburo and the Secretariat have issued over 40 directives, resolutions, regulations and conclusions on Party building, the political system and anti-corruption. The National Assembly has issued 31 laws and 7 resolutions; the Government and the Prime Minister have issued 162 decrees, 288 resolutions and 23 decisions; ministries, branches and localities have issued 11,184 documents on socio-economic management and anti-corruption, contributing to overcoming loopholes, inadequacies, contradictions and overlaps, removing difficulties and obstacles, improving the effectiveness and efficiency of State management, and gradually perfecting institutions to make corruption, waste and negativity "impossible".

The work of detecting and handling corruption and negativity is focused on strong, drastic and synchronous direction; violations are resolutely and strictly handled, but also very humanely, focusing on differentiation in handling violators, protecting cadres who dare to think and dare to do, for the common good.

In 2024, Party committees and inspection committees at all levels disciplined 709 Party organizations and 24,097 Party members for violations. The Central Executive Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, and the Central Inspection Committee disciplined 68 officials under the Central Committee's management.

In particular, for the first time, the Politburo disciplined two comrades who were former key leaders of the Party and State for violating regulations in performing assigned duties and tasks and in anti-corruption, violating things that Party members are not allowed to do, and the responsibility to set an example; clearly affirming the strictness and high determination of the General Secretary, the Party and the State in anti-corruption.
