On July 14, the An Giang Provincial Party Committee held a scientific workshop on the orientation of socio-economic development and comments on documents of the An Giang Provincial Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term. Mr. Le Minh Hoan, member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly and many experts, scientists, and managers attended the workshop.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Tien Hai - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee - said that the province is facing a historic opportunity to promote its role as a strong marine economic center of the country, becoming a dynamic economic region. With an area of over 9,888 km2, converging all the factors of "land - hills - sea - islands - borders", with great potential for high-tech agriculture, marine economy, border economy, logistics, tourism and smart cities, especially high-quality marine tourism. With a population of over 4.9 million people, leading the Mekong Delta region, it not only creates a large domestic consumer market but also attracts more strongly domestic and foreign investment capital.

In the past term, An Giang and Kien Giang provinces (before the merger) have achieved and exceeded 31/40 targets of the Resolution of the Congress for the 2020-2025 term. In particular, the province has overcome many difficulties after the COVID-19 pandemic, the socio-economic situation has recovered well and has many improvements. The economic structure shifted in a positive direction. The proportion of trade and services is increasing in GRDP. The economic growth in the first 6 months of the year of An Giang province after the merger was over 8.1% (An Giang is 1 of 17 provinces with a growth rate of over 8%).
However, the general situation of the province still has certain limitations and difficulties. The draft Political Report submitted to the An Giang Provincial Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term identifies the goal by 2030: An Giang is a fairly developed province of the country; a strong marine economic center of the country; Phu Quoc special zone reaches international scale; Rach Gia is a political - administrative, trade - service, comprehensive and specialized center; the Long Xuyen - Chau Doc - Rach Gia - Ha Tien quadrangle is the driving force for the development of industry, logistics and cultural tourism, ecology, a center for research and development of varieties and production of high-tech agriculture, seafood, and medicinal herbs; developing a border economy, trade units, cooperating with the Kingdom of Cambodia; social security is guaranteed, the material and spiritual life of the people is improved...

To contribute to perfecting the socio-economic development orientation of the province, as well as the Political Report submitted to the An Giang Provincial Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term, the Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee proposed that the workshop focus on discussing and clarifying 10 key groups of issues. Specifically, regarding the development orientation of the province, especially the key tasks and strategic breakthroughs of An Giang province; Major orientations for socio-economic development of An Giang province to 2030, vision 2045; Planning orientation for An Giang province to develop quickly, harmoniously and sustainably, especially developing Phu Quoc into a special-use international zone; Integrated approach between the marine, border and inland economy, becoming new growth drivers of An Giang province's economy; International experiences on development issues and suggestions for An Giang province; Growth model suitable to the province's specific conditions; Solutions to ensure livelihood security, culture and sustainable environment; Effective and modern two-level government operation mechanism; design and operate the two-level government system; report on the national defense and security plan, national defense and security plan, national defense and security plan, national defense and security report in the 2025-2030 General Assembly; report on the new socio-political and economic situation in the An Giang province.
