Recently, in Kien Giang province, a conference was held to review the results of 3-year cooperation (2022 - 2024) and the direction of cooperation for the next 2 years (2025 - 2026) between Kien Giang province (Vietnam) and Kep province (Cambodia).
Speaking at the conference, Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Nhan said: in the period of 2022 - 2024, good results have been achieved in the coordination of security protection in the sea and economic, cultural and social fields, and the foreign relations between the two provinces have been increasingly consolidated and developed sustainably.
According to the report, the functional forces of the two provinces have cooperated well in protecting security and order, preventing crimes, closely coordinating to promptly resolve incidents that have occurred, contributing to strengthening the friendly and cooperative relationship between the two sides.
Every year, the Kien Giang Provincial specialized committee and the Kep Provincial specialized committee organize the signing of a cooperation document on searching, collecting, and repatriating the remains of volunteer soldiers and Vietnamese experts who died during the war in Cambodia.
The K92 team regularly maintains relationships, exchanges information, and supports a budget of 39,000 USD to serve the work of propagating and mobilizing information about martyrs.
The two sides also strengthen cooperation to promote trade development, creating conditions for goods of enterprises of both sides to be favorable, in accordance with the law and regulations in effect, ensuring quality, efficiency, and meeting the consumption needs of the people.
In 3 years, the total import-export turnover of the two sides reached over 257 million USD. The health sector of Kien Giang province has examined and treated many cases of patients from Kep province for inpatient examination and treatment at Kien Giang General Hospital and a number of other hospitals in the province.
The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Kien Giang province and the Cambodia Fatherland Front Committee for Solidarity and Development of Kep province and Kam Pot province have signed an Emulation Census on the construction of the Vietnam - Cambodia border for peace, friendship, and comprehensive cooperation for development in the 2023-2025 period.
Promoting the achieved results, at the conference, the two provinces together proposed cooperation directions for 2025 - 2026 in coordinating the management and protection of security and order at sea; cooperation in searching, collecting, and repatriating martyrs' remains; cooperation in the fields of economy, trade; agriculture, health and cultural - social fields.
Speaking at the end of the conference, Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Nhan acknowledged and appreciated the solidarity, friendship and efforts and determination to cooperate of the authorities and armed forces of the two provinces in implementing the cooperation signing document, especially the joint coordination in protecting security and safety at sea, preventing and combating crimes, contributing to stabilizing security, order and developing the economy and society.
Accordingly, the armed forces of both sides need to continue to cooperate closely in protecting the sea area, together preventing and combating all types of crimes and coordinating the search and recovery of martyrs' remains in Cambodia in the province of Kep.
Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Nhan also affirmed the consistent implementation of policies, constantly consolidating and comprehensively cooperating with Kep province in the fields that the Governments of Vietnam and Cambodia have signed, with the motto "good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term sustainability".
