At noon on July 4, at the regular Government press conference in June, answering reporters' questions about the management of the gasoline and oil market in the past time, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan said that the management of the gasoline and oil market focuses on implementing two consistent goals.
The first is to ensure the supply of gasoline and oil to the domestic market in all situations. The second is to manage gasoline and oil prices flexibly and reasonably, ensuring harmony of interests between the State, businesses and consumers.
The Government and the Prime Minister have issued many guiding documents related to the management and administration of the gasoline and oil market. The Ministry of Industry and Trade has also issued many regulations and guiding documents to implement solutions to ensure supply and market management.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade coordinates with the Ministry of Finance and relevant ministries and sectors in managing gasoline and oil production, business, and distribution activities. The Deputy Minister also highly appreciated the participation of businesses in gasoline and oil production and business activities, contributing to ensuring supply for the market.
According to leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, with the implemented solutions, the supply of gasoline and oil is guaranteed, price management is carried out flexibly and the achieved results have been recognized by Party, State and Government leaders.
In the coming time, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will continue to implement the goals assigned by the Government, manage gasoline and oil prices flexibly according to the principles set out, ensuring harmony of interests between the State, businesses and consumers.
Referring to the fact that domestic gasoline and oil prices have decreased sharply, but the price level of many goods has not yet been adjusted accordingly, Deputy Minister Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan said that first of all, it is necessary to eliminate the mentality of taking advantage of fluctuations in gasoline and oil prices to unreasonably raise commodity prices.
According to the Deputy Minister, when gasoline and oil prices have decreased, businesses also need to review the cost structure to adjust selling prices accordingly.
If gasoline and oil prices have decreased like this, then our prices must also decrease. This is a very basic principle," the Deputy Minister emphasized.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan said that the Ministry of Industry and Trade has directed market management forces from central to local levels to strengthen inspection and review of violations of price listing, selling goods not at listed prices and other violations related to price management.
The Deputy Minister informed that so far the market management force has handled many violations and will continue to promote inspection work in the coming time.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade also recommends that businesses strictly implement regulations on price listing, sell at listed prices, register and declare prices. At the same time, proactively review cost structures, adjust prices appropriately when input factors decrease, and do not take advantage of market fluctuations to increase prices or keep prices at unreasonable levels.
For consumers, the Deputy Minister recommends that people follow information from official sources and do not buy goods to stockpile according to crowd psychology.
When detecting acts of selling goods at prices not in accordance with the listed price, selling at prices higher than the listed price or showing signs of hoarding goods, people need to promptly report to functional agencies, especially local market management forces.
According to Deputy Minister Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan, the Ministry of Industry and Trade is coordinating with ministries and sectors to synchronously implement solutions to adjust the price level of goods according to the downward trend of gasoline and oil prices in the coming time.
