On February 22, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh issued Official Dispatch No. 18/CD-TTg directing the handling of the consequences of a particularly serious traffic accident at Km 235+100 National Highway 6 in Son La province.
At 11:30 p.m. on February 21, a traffic accident occurred with particularly serious consequences at Km235+100 on National Highway 6, passing through Sup Vat commune, Yen Chau district, Son La province, resulting in the death of 6 people and the injury of 9 people.
Upon receiving information about the accident, the Prime Minister directed to send warm and thoughtful condolences to the injured and express his deep condolences to the relatives and families of the deceased victims; at the same time, directed the leaders of Son La province and the police force to the scene to direct the handling of the consequences of the accident.
The Prime Minister requested the Chairman of the People's Committee of Son La province to urgently direct the provincial authorities and functional units to immediately arrange all medical and medicinal facilities to treat victims, minimizing losses in people's lives and property; organize visits and support to encourage victims and families of victims who died in the accident.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Son La province directly chaired a conference with agencies and functional forces to assess the causes and immediately deploy solutions to overcome shortcomings and inadequacies.
At the same time, urgently clarify the direct and indirect causes related to the above traffic accident; as a basis for propaganda and implementation of preventive solutions in the coming time.
The Minister of Public Security directs the Son La Provincial Police and the Public Security of relevant units to urgently investigate, clarify the cause of the accident and strictly handle in accordance with the provisions of law for organizations and individuals who violate regulations, causing the above-mentioned particularly serious traffic accident.
In particular, it is noted to strictly handle drivers, vehicle owners or bus companies and related individuals in case of violations of regulations on working hours, conditions, and health of drivers in the above accident.
Direct the police of units and localities to increase patrols and strictly control road transport activities by car, especially passenger vehicles and large-volume cargo vehicles.
Review the journey monitoring device system for transport vehicles, strictly handle violations in accordance with the law, especially violations of regulations on working hours of drivers.
The Minister of Transport directs relevant units to review and organize traffic reasonably and scientifically on National Highway 6 and key expressways and national highways, overcome limitations (if any), enhance the safety of the traffic infrastructure system in areas with complex traffic conditions to ensure traffic order and safety.
Chairmen of People's Committees of provinces and centrally run cities direct functional units to strengthen inspection and supervision of compliance with legal regulations related to business activities and business conditions for automobile transportation, especially regulations on working hours, conditions, and health of drivers.
Strictly handle violations by drivers, bus companies, vehicle owners and related individuals to prevent similar accidents, ensure people's lives, health and property and maintain traffic order and safety.
