The Government Office has just issued Document No. 8726/VPCP-KGVX dated November 26, 2024 conveying the direction of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Lunar New Year holidays and some holidays in 2025.
The Prime Minister agrees with the proposal of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs in the above documents on Lunar New Year holidays, National Day holidays and swapping working days on the occasion of Victory Day April 30 and International Labor Day May 1, 2025.
The Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs shall notify administrative agencies, public service agencies, political organizations, socio-political organizations, enterprises and employees as prescribed.
Agencies and units shall arrange and organize on-duty departments according to regulations and work reasonably to handle continuous work, ensuring good service to organizations and people, in which it is important to assign officers and civil servants to be on duty to handle sudden and unexpected work that may occur during Tet and holidays according to regulations.
Ministries, agencies and localities have specific and appropriate plans and measures to encourage units, enterprises, organizations and individuals to actively and proactively implement production, business, economic and social activities.
According to the plan submitted by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to the Prime Minister, for the Lunar New Year 2025, cadres, civil servants and public employees will have 9 consecutive days off, including 5 days off for Tet and 4 days off every week.
Accordingly, civil servants, public employees, and workers will have 5 days off for Lunar New Year, from Monday, January 27, 2025 to Friday, January 31, 2025 (ie December 28, year of the Dragon, to January 3, year of the Snake).
However, in 2025, all 5 Lunar New Year holidays fall on weekdays, so workers will have 2 more days off before the weekend and 2 days off after the Tet holiday.
Therefore, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has proposed that civil servants, public employees, and workers in administrative agencies, public service agencies, political organizations, and socio-political organizations will have a holiday from January 25 to February 2, 2025 (December 26 to January 5).
This plan helps workers have more time with their families, stimulates tourism and shopping.
The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs also encourages businesses to give employees the above-mentioned holiday schedule. For businesses not included in the above-mentioned list, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs requires employers to decide on one of three Tet holiday options.
One is 1 day off at the end of the year of Giap Thin and the first 4 days of the year of At Ty. Two is 2 days off at the end of the year of Giap Thin and the first 3 days of the year of At Ty. Three is 3 days off at the end of the year of Giap Thin and the first 2 days of the year of At Ty.
Employers must notify employees of the Lunar New Year holiday plan 30 days in advance.
30.4-1.5 holiday for 5 days; 2025 National Day holiday lasts 4 days
For April 30 and International Labor Day (May 1), the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs proposed a plan to swap working days from Friday (May 2, 2025) to Saturday (April 26, 2025) for 5 consecutive days off, from Wednesday to Sunday, ie April 30 - May 4, 2025.
National Day 2025 is expected to be off on September 2 and the day immediately preceding it, meaning a 4-day holiday, from August 30 to September 2, 2025.
According to the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the extended holiday will help workers have time to regenerate their labor force, stimulate tourism, and promote economic growth.
