On March 1, at the Government Headquarters, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a seminar with large US corporations and enterprises.
Also attending the seminar were Deputy Prime Ministers: Ho Duc Phoc, Nguyen Chi Dung; Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang, Minister of Agriculture and Environment Do Duc Duy, leaders of central ministries, branches and some localities, leaders of 11 large corporations and enterprises.
On the US side, there were US Deputy Ambassador to Vietnam Courtney Beale, leaders of the US Business Association, representatives of 38 large corporations and enterprises.
AmCham Chairman in Hanoi Eric Johnson said that US President Donald Trump highly appreciated the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Vietnam and the practical benefits for the two countries. The US side is continuing to review regulations and unfair fences to remove.
According to Mr. Eric Johnson, US businesses highly appreciate Vietnam's proactive implementation of their commitments; as well as efforts to streamline the apparatus, restructure ministries and branches, make administrative procedures more open, improve a transparent and fair business environment, which can be predicted, especially the most recent direction of General Secretary To Lam on reducing at least 30% of the time for handling administrative procedures, reducing at least 30% of business costs, and eliminating at least 30% of unnecessary business conditions.
At the seminar, US businesses all highly appreciated the achievements in development achieved and the major goals that Vietnam has set for the coming time; spoke about cooperation opportunities, proposals and recommendations in areas such as investment cooperation (Warburg Pincus), digital economy development and artificial intelligence (Meta), automobiles (Polaris, Ford), promoting high-tech production (Amkor), e-commerce ( Amazon Web Services - TM), aviation - defense (Boeing), textiles (Gap), energy (GE Venora, AES), digital transformation in banking and finance, insurance (Mastercard, AIG).
Representatives of Coca Cola, consulting companies such as Bower Group Asia, Bay Global Strategies... also made some recommendations related to public consultation in the process of policy making, tax laws, and responding to changing policies in global trade.
At the seminar, representatives of Vietnamese enterprises also expressed their opinions on cooperation with US partners. Notably, Vietnam Airlines is implementing the purchase of 50 Boeing aircraft with a total value of about 11 billion USD. Meanwhile, Vietjet is also implementing the purchase of 200 aircraft from Boeing. Several other air contracts between the two countries are also under consideration.
According to the Government Newspaper, regarding this content alone, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that Vietnam has a strategic position and many advantages to develop the aviation industry, so he suggested that Boeing consider reducing prices for Vietnamese airlines, as well as studying and implementing investment in component manufacturing plants and aircraft maintenance centers in Vietnam.
At the seminar, US Deputy Ambassador to Vietnam Courtney Beale said that with Vietnam's rapid development, US businesses consider Vietnam a very important market; US businesses are ready to cooperate and support the development of Vietnam's fields; Vietnamese businesses also increase investment in the US.
According to the Deputy Ambassador, the US and Vietnam have long-standing partnerships in semiconductor manufacturing; including the assembly, testing and packaging stages of many enterprises conducted in Vietnam. Vietnam is one of the important and persistent contributors to the supply chain of US businesses.
US businesses can strongly promote the fields of AI, supply chains, quantum, promote innovation, digital transformation such as Resolution 57-NQ/TW of the Vietnam Politburo; energy security cooperation, renewable energy, infrastructure, tourism, aviation, healthcare, etc.
