On June 25, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had meetings with Mr. Peter Brabeck- Letmathe - Interim President of the World Economic Forum (WEF) and Mr. Borge Brende - Executive President of WEF.
According to VNA, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam always highly appreciates the role of WEF and is pleased to see the Vietnam - WEF relationship developing well, becoming more in-depth and more substantial.
The Prime Minister requested WEF to support the effective operation of the 4.0 Industrial Revolution Center in Ho Chi Minh City, making the center one of the models in the WEF network to create motivation to promote the application of advanced technologies in key areas of the future economy.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also proposed that WEF promote connections with Vietnam with global corporations and enterprises, supporting high-quality investment attraction; and at the same time, upgrading the Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum to an annual WEF Autumn Economic Forum.
Mr. Peter Brabeck- Letmathe thanked Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh for his acceptance of attending WEF Tianjin 2025 and affirmed that he always attaches importance to and highly appreciates Vietnam's proactive and positive participation and contribution to WEF conferences. He thanked Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh for his support and support in WEF activities over the years.
Recognizing the proposals of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Mr. Peter Brabeck- Letmathe pledged to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam, especially in the strong and comprehensive implementation of the Vietnam - WEF Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed in Tianjin in 2023 with substantive projects and Qualitative results, while contributing to expanding cooperation between Vietnam and WEF members and partners.
At the meeting with WEF Borge Brende Executive Chairman, Mr. Borge Brende highly appreciated Vietnam's achievements in developing and growing gross domestic product (GDP) by more than 7% in 2024, as well as Vietnam's impressive double-digit growth target in the coming years, in contrast to the downward growth trend of the global economy.
Mr. Borge Brende affirmed that Vietnam is an attraction of WEF and the WEF business community is very interested in Vietnam. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's dialogue events for 3 consecutive years at the WEF conferences always leave a deep impression and inspire with a strong message, helping businesses better understand Vietnam's policies and pay more attention to exploring opportunities to boost investment in Vietnam.
The WEF Executive President also highly appreciated Vietnam's participation in organizing the WEF - ASEAN 2018 forum and hoped to coordinate in organizing the next conference in a dynamic market like Vietnam in the coming time, thereby contributing to expanding cooperation between Vietnam and WEF members and partners.
