Prime Minister requests US corporation to support training of 100,000 semiconductor and AI human resources in 5 years

On June 25, in Tianjin, China, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received leaders of multinational corporations and investment funds to promote technology cooperation.

According to the Government Newspaper, receiving Mr. Dave West, President of Asia - Pacific of Cisco Group, US, Politburo member, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh welcomed the fact that Cisco Group wishes to expand cooperation with Vietnam to promote innovation, apply modern technologies and promote digital transformation.

The Prime Minister said that Vietnam identifies science, technology, innovation, digital transformation as the main driving force to restructure the economy, establish a new growth model and make Vietnam a developed, high-income country by 2045; suggested that CSC continue to research and expand investment cooperation, at the same time, be a bridge for US businesses and CSC partners to increase investment in Vietnam; cooperate with Vietnam in the field of human resource training, especially in priority areas such as high technology, AI, etc.

Requesting Cisco to work with Vietnamese ministries, branches and enterprises, such as the Ministry of Science and Technology, technology corporations such as Viettel and CMC to conduct specific programs and projects, the Prime Minister invited Cisco leaders to visit Vietnam as soon as possible to discuss and open a research and training center on semiconductor chips, AI, network governance, network security, digital transformation in Vietnam; support and train Vietnam 100,000 semiconductor and AI human resources within the next 5 years; share documents, support Vietnam in implementing the "digital citizenship" movement.

Receiving Mr. Tan Yinglan - General Director of Insignia Ventures Partners Investment Fund (Singapore), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the achievements of Insignia VC in the past time and thanked the fund for its efforts in promoting Vietnamese startups and innovation.

Sharing Vietnam's desire to cooperate and connect technology enterprises and investment funds to support training, improve the capacity of information technology personnel, develop an innovation and startup ecosystem in Vietnam, the Prime Minister said that he has just issued a decision on a portfolio of strategic technology and strategic technology products, including 11 priority areas, such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, quantum, data, blockchain; new technologies, science and technology to exploit underground space, sea space, and outer space.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that Insignia VC invest in the above areas to receive incentives; and participate in international financial centers that Vietnam is building.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hopes that Insignia VC will soon concretize and implement the establishment of an Insignia investment fund dedicated to Vietnam and other investment cooperation mechanisms to develop the innovation ecosystem and Vietnamese startups; connect businesses in Insignia's investment network to expand research and development activities, production and business in Vietnam to take advantage of Vietnam's preferential policies in the high-tech sector and contribute to the development of Vietnam's technology ecosystem; share operational experience and consult with the Vietnamese Government on breakthrough mechanisms and policies to support startups and businesses.
