Prime Minister meets with General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping on the occasion of attending the expanded BRICS Summit.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that on October 23, 2024, on the occasion of attending the BRICS Leaders' Meeting held in Kazan, Russian Federation, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a brief meeting with General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping.

At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh respectfully conveyed the sincere greetings of General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping and key Chinese leaders; congratulated the great and historic achievements in the 75-year national construction of the Party, State, and people of China; and affirmed that Vietnam always considers developing relations with China a consistent policy, an objective requirement, a strategic choice, and a top priority in Vietnam's foreign policy.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh welcomed China's outstanding contributions to the BRICS mechanism and expressed his willingness to actively coordinate with BRICS member countries to further promote the role of developing countries in addressing global peace and development issues.

Regarding the Vietnam-China bilateral relationship, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the relationship between the two Parties and countries which has been continuously consolidated and developed over the past time, entering a new stage of development with the goal of building a Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of strategic significance following the "6 more" orientation.

The Prime Minister suggested that the two sides continue to increase high-level exchanges and contacts; promote substantive cooperation in all areas, including transport connectivity, especially prioritizing the acceleration of the implementation of three standard gauge railway lines connecting Vietnam with China (Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong, Lang Son - Hanoi, Mong Cai - Ha Long - Hai Phong) to promote economic connectivity between the two countries; coordinate well in organizing activities to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the Vietnam - China Humanitarian Exchange Year 2025.

General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping sent his sincere thanks and regards to General Secretary To Lam and key leaders of Vietnam; congratulated Comrade Luong Cuong on his election as President; and congratulated Vietnam on its achievements in all aspects, especially in the socio-economic field.

General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping expressed his delight at the development trend, which is increasingly substantive and effective, of the China-Vietnam relationship; emphasized that in any circumstances, it is necessary to promote the relationship in the spirit of "Four Goods" and the high-level common perceptions that have been reached; and is ready to maintain strategic exchanges with Vietnam, promote further deepening of substantive cooperation, and continuously deepen the China-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and the Community of Shared Future of strategic significance.

To promote connectivity between the two economies, General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping said he would direct relevant Chinese agencies to promote China-Vietnam transport connectivity.
