On the afternoon of January 14, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a ceremony to welcome Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Vladimirovich Mishustin.

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Vladimirovich Mishustin is paying an official visit to Vietnam from January 14 to 15, at the invitation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

As the motorcade carrying the Russian delegation entered the Presidential Palace, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh welcomed Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Vladimirovich Mishustin in a warm and sincere atmosphere. Prime Minister Mikhail Vladimirovich Mishustin received a bouquet of flowers from the capital's students.

As the two leaders stepped onto the podium, the national anthems of the two countries were played. In a solemn atmosphere, the Prime Minister of Vietnam and the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation stepped forward to salute the national flags of the two countries.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh invited Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Vladimirovich Mishustin to review the Guard of Honour of the Vietnam People's Army. The two Prime Ministers introduced members of the high-ranking delegations of the two countries.

Immediately after the welcoming ceremony, the two Prime Ministers moved to the Government Headquarters for talks.

Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Vladimirovich Mishustin was born in 1966. He has a Bachelor's degree in system engineering from the Moscow Machine Tool Institute (1989); Doctor of Economics (2003 from Plekhanov Russian Economic University and 2010 from the Academy of National Economy). On January 16, 2020, Mr. Mikhail Vladimirovich Mishustin was appointed Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.

This is Prime Minister Mishustin’s first visit to Vietnam. The visit shows that the two countries value their traditional friendship and demonstrate their determination to continue to consolidate and strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. This is also an opportunity for the two countries’ leaders to meet, discuss and agree on important issues and strategic directions for the future, and more clearly define key areas of cooperation, from economics, trade, energy, science and technology to education, culture and national defense and security.

The visit is also an opportunity for the two sides to review, discuss and find solutions to promote cooperation, exchange on the progress of implementing important cooperation projects in the fields of energy, industry, etc., and propose measures to expand cooperation in potential fields, creating momentum to promote relations between Vietnam and the Russian Federation.
