Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent a message of condolences to the late pop.

Having received news of the passing of Pope Francis, on April 21, 2025, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent a message of condolences to Prime Minister Vatican City, Red Doctor Pietro Parolin, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam informed.

On the same day, Central Party Committee member, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son sent a message of condolences to Secretary of State of the VAT, General Director Paul Richard Gallagher.

Pope Francis passed away on April 21 from a stroke, which was followed by heart failure. The catholics church said that Pope Francis died of other illnesses, including "a previous acute respiratory failure", high blood pressure and type II diabetes.

Pope Francis passed away at the age of 88.

Pope Francis grew up in Argentina. He was the first Pope to be born and raised outside of Europe in the 12th century, the first person from the Americas and the first convert to the see.

Pope Francis has been a leader of 1.3 billion Catholics worldwide since 2013.

In his will, King Francis requested that he be buried in a simple underground tomb in the Realm of Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome. On the grave will be engraved a single letter - his name in Latin Franciscus.

Pope Francis chose to bury him in the civil judgment of the catedral for personal wishes, noting in his will that he often prayed there.

Pope Francis will be the first papist to be buried outside the Vatican in more than a century.
