National Highway 19 connecting Gia Lai and Binh Dinh has just been upgraded and completed to ensure convenient traffic. However, the installation of dense, unscientific signs is causing frustration for many drivers.
In Gia Lai province, the section from Chu Prong district to Duc Co district has many locations only a few dozen meters apart but has 5 to 7 signs. This makes it difficult for drivers to observe and recognize the signal.
In particular, in areas near schools, a series of warning signs such as crossroads, children crossing the road and speed limits under 40 km/h are installed densely during many time frames. This also leads to information confusion.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hung (a truck driver, 42 years old, Gia Lai) shared: "Driving on National Highway 19 is like going into the signaged entrance. The sea overlaps, if you don't have time to observe it, it is easy to violate.
In particular, in school areas, there are too many signs, making it difficult for drivers to focus on driving. I think we need to rearrange more reasonably to avoid disruption and ensure traffic safety".

Sharing the same concern, Mr. Nguyen Manh Tai, a resident of Thang Hung commune, Chu Prong district, said: "The unscientific installation of signs causes eye discomfort, slows down the driver's reflection and increases the risk of accidents. I hope the authorities will soon review and adjust to ensure traffic safety".
Faced with this situation, the Road Management Office 3.4 (Vietnam Road Administration) has requested Project Management Board 2 to rearrange the sign system in a more scientific and reasonable way. However, the adjustment has not been made yet.
Recently, the Government Office has requested the Ministry of Construction, the Ministry of Public Security and the People's Committees of relevant provinces to urgently handle inadequacies in traffic organization, especially the system of signs and traffic lights, to minimize the risk of unsafety.
The project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 19 helps strengthen the connection between the Central Highlands and South Central provinces.
The project is nearly 230km long with a total investment of about 155.8 million USD (more than 3,600 billion VND). The project is organized to start construction from the end of August 2021.
