The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that on May 25, at the National Assembly headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Speaker of the Malaysian Senate Dato Awang Bemee Awang Ali Basah and Speaker of the Malaysian House of Representatives Dato' Johari Bin Abdul, within the framework of an official visit to Malaysia and attending the 46th ASEAN Summit and related conferences.
The President of the Malaysian Senate highly appreciated the visit of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, emphasizing that Vietnam is Malaysia's only Comprehensive Strategic partner in Asia; affirming that the visit contributes to the effective implementation of agreements in the newly upgraded relationship.
The Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to bilateral relations, is ready to facilitate cooperation; suggested that the two countries implement measures to soon bring trade turnover to 20 billion USD; facilitate import-export, limit trade barriers; Malaysia supports training on production and issuance of Halal certificates, facilitates the import of these products from Vietnam; soon signs a cooperation agreement in the field of Halal.

The two sides agreed to promote delegation exchanges at all levels; effectively implement existing cooperation mechanisms; promptly sign agreements on defense, security, cooperation at sea, and education; and enhance exchanges between the two ruling parties and the National Assembly.
The Prime Minister proposed opening more flights connecting famous landmarks; creating favorable conditions for citizens of the two countries to live, work and study; recognizing the role of the Vietnamese community in Malaysia and the Malaysian community in Vietnam in strengthening people-to-people relations.
The Prime Minister highly appreciated Malaysia's role in the 2025 ASEAN Chairmanship and AIPA 46; affirmed that Vietnam will coordinate closely to implement priorities, towards a united, self-reliant, and central ASEAN.
On the same day, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Speaker of the Malaysian House of Representatives Dato' Johari Bin Abdul. The Prime Minister congratulated Malaysia on its development achievements and expressed confidence that the country will successfully implement the MADANI Economic framework.
The Speaker of the Malaysian House of Representatives affirmed that this is the first high-level visit since the two countries upgraded their relations, which is of great significance, creating new momentum to promote bilateral relations.

The Prime Minister proposed to increase delegation exchanges at all levels; promote security and defense cooperation; connect the economy through the ASEAN power grid, digital transformation, green economy, circular economy.
The Speaker of the Malaysian House of Representatives proposed cooperation in agricultural development, ensuring food security; promoting cultural cooperation, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.
Regarding parliamentary cooperation, the two sides agreed to promote the results of the 2024 visit to Vietnam by the Speaker of the House of Representatives; promote the signing of cooperation agreements between the two countries' National Assemblies; increase delegation exchanges, parliamentary exchanges, and share legislative experiences.
The two sides affirmed that they will coordinate closely at regional and international parliamentary forums. The Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam supports the topics raised by Malaysia in its role as ASEAN Chair and AIPA 46.
