The Government newspaper reported that on the afternoon of May 25 in the capital Kuala Lumpur, Politburo member, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim chaired a press conference on the results of bilateral talks.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim affirmed: "Vietnam has a particularly important position in our hearts".
During the talks, the two sides made many important decisions, notably the cooperation agreement on the power grid, including the underground cable transmission line from Vietnam to Malaysia - a major project demonstrating the success of ASEAN and bilateral cooperation in energy transition and renewable energy development.
The Malaysian Prime Minister highly appreciated the progress after the two countries established a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. He said that Vietnam is making a historic breakthrough in economy, a model for the young generation of Malaysia.
The Malaysian Prime Minister also mentioned the upcoming 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers on June 10 between the two football teams, and expected a friendly match between ASEAN stars and Manchester United in Malaysia at the end of May.
For his part, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that the two Prime Ministers had a successful meeting, sharing many comprehensive and substantial contents, agreeing to promote bilateral relations to a new level, commensurate with the potential and advantages of both sides.

The two sides also agreed to promote economic, trade and investment cooperation, especially in agriculture, rice, food and the Halal food industry. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that Malaysia support Vietnam in developing this field and promoting cooperation with Gulf countries.
Vietnam wishes to strengthen economic connections with Malaysia, especially in science and technology, innovation, digital transformation and the development of artificial intelligence - a new pillar of cooperation to increase labor productivity, sustainable and inclusive development.
The two sides also agreed to promote cooperation in education, training of high-quality human resources, culture, tourism and people-to-people exchanges. The Prime Minister suggested that Malaysia continue to support the community of more than 30,000 Vietnamese people living and working in this country.
Regarding international issues, the two countries reaffirmed their consistent stance on maintaining peace, security and maritime safety in the East Sea on the basis of international law, especially UNCLOS 1982, seriously implementing the DOC and promoting substantive and effective COC negotiations.
Vietnam supports and stands side by side with Malaysia in its role as ASEAN Chair 2025, jointly building a self-reliant, united ASEAN and promoting its central role in the context of many fluctuations in the region and the world.

The Prime Minister affirmed that the Vietnam - Malaysia relationship has become a model of regional cooperation, "politically sustainable, economically strong, deeply cultural and wide-range in vision of wide vision, deep thinking, great action", practically contributing to the common interests of the two countries and for peace, stability, cooperation and development of the region and the world.
