Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Deputy Prime Ministers and the Government Office support people affected by storm No. 10 and floods.

On the morning of October 3, in Hanoi, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Deputy Prime Ministers, Deputy Secretaries of the Government Party Committee, the Government Office and the Government Party Committee's support agencies participated in supporting people affected by storms and floods with the spirit of mutual love, mutual assistance, national love, and compatriotism, "the healthy leaves cover the torn leaves".

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, leaders of the Government, the Government Party Committee, the collective leadership, cadres, civil servants, public employees, workers of the Government Office, and the Government Party Committee's support agencies have donated at least one day's salary to people affected by storms and floods.

In September, there were four consecutive storms affecting our country. In particular, storm No. 10 is strong, the time of travel on land is long; the storm circulation causes heavy rain, flash floods, widespread flooding, water levels in many rivers exceed alert level 3, in some places exceed historical flood levels.

This is one of the serious and fierce natural disasters, severely affecting economic and social activities, infrastructure institutions from the sea to the plains, midlands to the mountains, causing heavy damage to people, property, and infrastructure in localities in the Northern and North Central regions.

General Secretary To Lam, Standing member of the Secretariat and the Prime Minister have issued many documents directing, visiting and encouraging localities and people in disaster-affected areas to soon overcome difficulties and losses, and quickly stabilize their lives.

The Prime Minister issued 9 telegrams and continuously directed ministries, branches, central and local agencies to focus on responding to storm No. 10 early and remotely with the highest proactive, decisive spirit, prevention and response at the highest level; established delegations led by the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Ministers to directly inspect, urge and direct the response and overcoming of consequences in localities.

However, the damage caused by storm No. 10 and floods is huge. According to incomplete statistics, by 8:00 p.m. on October 2, 65 people had died, gone missing, 164 people were injured, 349 houses had collapsed, over 172,000 houses were damaged, were blown away, over 1,400 schools, 145 medical facilities were damaged; over 100,000 hectares of rice and crops, seafood were flooded, damaged, many connecting traffic routes and essential infrastructure were seriously eroded and damaged.

The total preliminary economic damage is estimated at over VND15,000 billion. The pain and loss caused by floods is huge, requiring large resources and a lot of time to overcome the consequences, to bring production, business and people's lives back to normal.
