Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh receives Cuban Foreign Minister

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam always stands side by side, shares and supports Cuba in overcoming difficulties for mutual development.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on February 18, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Cuban Politburo member and Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, who is on an official visit to Vietnam from February 18-20,

At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his pleasure at meeting Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla again; affirmed that the Minister's visit will contribute to further strengthening the special friendship between Vietnam and Cuba.

The Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam appreciates the 65-year history of the exemplary comradely and brotherly relationship between the two countries, always remembering the solidarity and wholehearted support of the leader Fidel Castro, the Cuban Party, State and people for Vietnam in the past extremely difficult periods.

The head of the Vietnamese Government stated that in the current complex international context, Vietnam always stands side by side with Cuba, shares experiences and supports Cuba in overcoming difficulties, promoting its strengths for mutual development.

The Prime Minister suggested that the two sides increase delegation exchanges at all levels; closely coordinate the implementation of high-level agreements reached during the visit to Cuba by General Secretary and President To Lam in September 2024.

Promote the effectiveness of the Intergovernmental Committee mechanism, prioritize cooperation in the fields of food production, renewable energy, biotechnology, healthcare, tourism; coordinate the implementation of activities to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cuba (December 2, 1960 - December 2, 2025); strengthen coordination and mutual support at multilateral forums.

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla respectfully thanked the Prime Minister for taking the time to receive the delegation; conveyed the warm regards of First Secretary, President Miguel Diaz-Canel, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz and senior Cuban leaders to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and senior leaders of Vietnam.

The Minister expressed his deep gratitude to the Party, State and people of Cuba for their solidarity and practical support to Vietnam in recent times, especially in the fields of agriculture and food security.

At the same time, it affirmed the determination to further strengthen and enhance the traditional friendship and special cooperation that were founded by President Ho Chi Minh and leader Fidel Castro.

Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla congratulated and highly appreciated Vietnam's achievements in Innovation and socio-economic development in recent times; expressed his desire to exchange experiences with Vietnam in many fields.

The two sides agreed to actively and effectively coordinate the implementation of measures to develop economic, trade, investment and many other areas of cooperation commensurate with the special political relationship, practically serving the development of the two countries, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the two regions and in the world.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh conveyed warm regards to the leaders of Cuba, and invited Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz to return to visit Vietnam at an appropriate time.
