Budget revenue reaches over 11,300 billion VND
Participating in the Prime Minister's working delegation were Mr. Dang Xuan Phong - Minister, Chairman of the Government Office; Mr. Trinh Viet Hung - Minister of Agriculture and Environment; Mr. Vu Hai Quan - Minister of Science and Technology; Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Hien - Deputy Minister of National Defense; Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Ngoc Lam - Deputy Minister of Public Security; Major General Tran Van Bac - Commander of Military Region 2 and representatives of leaders of ministries and sectors.
Reporting to the Prime Minister and the working delegation, Mr. Duong Quoc Huy - Secretary of the Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee summarized the outstanding results of the province in the first 6 months of 2026.
Accordingly, the economy continued to grow positively, GRDP increased by 9.01%; budget revenue reached over 11,300 billion VND; disbursement of public investment capital reached over 47%, ranking 5th nationwide.
Strong growth drivers such as border gate economy, industrial production, and tourism services are effectively exploited; the number of newly granted investment policy projects increased by 31% with total investment increasing 3.4 times compared to the same period.

The fields of culture - society, education, health and social security are concerned. Lao Cai is one of the first 6 localities to implement free periodic health check-ups for the People. National defense, security, and border sovereignty are maintained; 57/99 communes and wards meet and basically meet the criteria of "communes and wards without drugs".
Local governments at 2 levels basically operate stably and smoothly. Lao Cai actively implements Resolution No. 57 of the Politburo and is one of the provinces with the highest rate of completing tasks assigned by the Central Government in the country.
Regarding administrative reform, digital transformation and science and technology development, the province belongs to the leading group in the country in implementing Resolution No. 57 and is the first locality to issue criteria and implement the "digital village" and "smart village" models.
Lao Cai must make twice as much effort as other provinces
At the working session, delegates from Lao Cai province proposed that the Prime Minister and central ministries and sectors pay attention to considering and removing 8 groups of contents to complete the goals for 2026 and the 2026-2030 period.
The focus is on accelerating procedures to soon start construction of the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway line; investing in dyke lines to protect riverbanks and border streams to ensure infrastructure safety, people's lives and border sovereignty management and protection; creating conditions for the province to implement the Project to overcome flooding in the Red River area and surrounding areas, contributing to ensuring the safety of lives and property for about 11,000 households...
Representatives of central ministries and sectors exchanged and clarified the province's recommendations; and at the same time proposed solutions to remove difficulties and obstacles, focusing on mechanisms, policies, investment in transport infrastructure, border gate economic development, investment attraction and implementation of key programs and projects.
Concluding the working session, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung praised the efforts and positive and important results that Lao Cai province achieved in the first 6 months of 2026.
At the same time, it recognized outstanding results in disbursing public investment capital, administrative reform, digital transformation and operation of the two-level local government model.

Emphasizing that the GRDP growth target of 10.5% or more in 2026 is a very challenging task, the Prime Minister requested Lao Cai to strongly innovate thinking, be drastic in action, effectively exploit traditional growth drivers, and at the same time focus on innovating growth models based on science, technology, innovation and digital transformation to create new development momentum.
If Lao Cai wants sustainable growth and stable budget revenue, it is imperative to shift the economic structure more strongly, increase the proportion of industry, trade, and services... It is necessary to double the efforts of other provinces in implementing public investment projects and be determined to handle backlog projects," the Prime Minister emphasized.
The Head of Government requested the province to review and update the growth scenario; promote the potential of advantageous sectors such as border gate economy, processing industry, logistics, tourism and high-value agriculture.
In addition, accelerate the progress of key projects; synchronously develop transport infrastructure, industrial parks, border gate economic zones and digital infrastructure; strongly improve the investment and business environment, attracting strategic investors.
