On June 1, in Hanoi, Vietnam Airlines held a ceremony to celebrate its 30th anniversary and was honored to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister for its outstanding achievements, positive contributions to the cause of socio-economic development and international integration of the country.

This noble award is a recognition of the three-decade journey of continuous innovation and development, and at the same time a deep gratitude to generations of officers, employees and employees who have continuously contributed to the brand and position of Vietnam Airlines today.

Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed: "Vietnam Airlines Corporation is the leading bird in the Vietnamese aviation industry, contributing to improving national competitiveness and position in the international arena. The humane actions of Vietnam Airlines have spread the image of a Vietnam of affection, responsibility and deep integration with the world".

The Prime Minister also suggested that the airline continue to promote its pioneering role, promote digital transformation, innovate business models, invest for sustainable development, be environmentally friendly and associated with the national green growth strategy.

Vietnam Airlines was established in 1995 on the basis of inheriting the glorious military tradition of the 919th Air Force Regiment. Vietnam Airlines Corporation carries the mission of not only being an economic enterprise, but also a cultural symbol, national spirit and aspiration for integration.

As a National Airline, Vietnam Airlines is also a core force in performing political, defense, social security and national foreign affairs tasks, from emergency situations to national-level events.

For the past 30 years, Vietnam Airlines has stood side by side with the country in the most difficult times such as the civil evacuation campaign in Libya (2011, 2014), bringing Vietnamese citizens affected by earthquakes and sunslides in Japan, to hundreds of humanitarian flights during the Covid-19 pandemic.

During the pandemic, Vietnam Airlines has shown its efforts to overcome the unprecedented crisis of the global aviation industry, and has received the attention and close direction of the Party, State, Government and National Assembly, thereby gradually recovering and moving forward firmly.

From an airline with a small fleet and limited facilities, Vietnam Airlines Corporation has risen to become a 4-star airline according to international standards, with the goal of conquering 5-star standards in the future. In three decades of operation, the airline has served 350 million passengers, transported 4.7 million tons of goods, operated nearly 100 routes to 53 domestic and foreign destinations, and connected more than 1,000 global destinations through the SkyTeam alliance.

The 2015 equitization milestone marked a turning point in Vietnam Airlines' development journey, helping the airline gradually approach international governance standards, attract strategic investors and improve operational efficiency.

Vietnam Airlines' revenue continues to grow. In the period of 1995 - 2024, the total amount of money paid to the State budget from parent companies and subsidiaries will reach about 68 trillion VND, three times the capital contribution of State shareholders, affirming the position of a core enterprise in the national economy.

In 2024 alone, consolidated revenue will reach nearly 113 trillion VND, consolidated after-tax profit will reach a record of VND 7,958 billion; In the first quarter of 2025, it continued to record growth with pre-tax profit reaching nearly VND 3,625 billion.

In recent years, Vietnam Airlines has promoted digital transformation, enhancing passenger experience and competitiveness. The airline has been recognized by Skytrax as a 4-star airline, honored by APEX as a "5-star International Airline" and has consecutively won many prestigious awards such as World Travel Awards, Vietnam Tourism Awards - Top 10 leading transport and tourism enterprises; "Asia's leading airline in terms of special popularity", Advanced E-commerce airline; The airline has the program "Best Chinese Customers" and many other international titles.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Dang Ngoc Hoa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Corporation, emphasized: "We are proud that Vietnam Airlines has become an icon of a modern, friendly and integrated Vietnam. Each flight not only connects destinations, but also connects culture, beliefs and aspirations for development. Images such as yellow lotus flowers, ao dai or friendly smiles have become their own mark, uncopiable, contributing to expanding the country's "soft borders".

Aiming to become a 5-star international airline by 2030, Vietnam Airlines continues to modernize its fleet, expand its flight network, develop personalized services and apply new technologies. At the same time, the airline identifies people as the center of development, focusing on building a team of high-quality human resources with courage, knowledge and service spirit, meeting the requirements of extensive international integration.
