On the morning of June 4, Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien issued a request to the Ministry of Public Security to investigate and handle information spread on social networks about denouncing CP Livestock Joint Stock Company for selling sick pork.
According to the document of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, on May 30, 2025, social media account Jonny Lieu (with 29,000 followers) posted a denunciation that caused a stir in public opinion, accusing the store of C.P. Fresh Shop My Xuyen (Soc Trang) regularly sells pork and sick chicken to the market. The posted content describes the pieces of meat with signs of damage such as red spots, pus, and rot that are still brought to stores for consumption.
Immediately after receiving the information, the Ministry directed an emergency inspection at the business locations of CP Vietnam Livestock Joint Stock Company. The interdisciplinary inspection team including representatives of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, Health, Industry and Trade, and Soc Trang Provincial Police conducted a surprise inspection.
At the main business establishment in My Xuyen district (Soc Trang province), the inspection team did not detect any sick pork or chicken, nor did they find any expired products as reported. However, many administrative violations were recorded such as expired food safety certificates, establishments have not presented business registration certificates and certificates of food hygiene and safety training.
By May 31, 2025, the team continued to inspect the company's remaining 3 business locations in Soc Trang province. Initial results also did not detect expired meat or food, but the two establishments were determined to have expired the food safety certification.
According to the results of meat sample testing at the stores, conducted by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Region VII, all were negative for dangerous infectious diseases such as African swine Fever, classic Fever and Green Ear.
At the same time, Soc Trang province has also sent a document requesting Hau Giang province to coordinate in verifying information related to the epidemic situation that is believed to be related to the origin of meat.
With initial conclusions, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has recommended that the Ministry of Public Security investigate and clarify the information spread, strictly handle any violations, in order to stabilize consumer psychology and protect the food supply chain.
Also in the morning of 4.6, Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien signed a dispatch to the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary to check and verify the wrong quarantine seal for the sick pig of C.P. Vietnam. Accordingly, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment requires the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary to preside and coordinate with the functional agencies of Hau Giang province, Soc Trang province and relevant agencies and units to review, verify and clarify the veterinary staff stamping in contravention of regulations; belong to which unit; handle responsibilities according to regulations and related contents. The Ministry also requested the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary to report in writing before June 5 for review and direction.
Previously, at the regular Press Conference in May 2025, the Deputy Director of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine said that the image of the stamp on the pig taken on social networks was made incorrectly.
"If the pigs are sick, they must have a round mark, the destroyed pigs must have a triangle shape. On the image of sick pigs of Vietnam's captain in 2022, there is a square stamp - this is a mark to control slaughtering on the market" - Ms. Thuy informed.
The Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment requested the Department to inspect who had sealed that mark, which agency and affirmed that the Ministry would prosecute responsibility to the end.
