On July 10, at the 31st session of the 18th term Nghe An Provincial People's Council, many delegates questioned the management and prevention of smuggling, the production of counterfeit goods and poor quality food, especially in remote areas and e-commerce.
Responding to questions, Mr. Pham Van Hoa - Director of Nghe An Department of Industry and Trade - frankly acknowledged that the situation of smuggling, production of counterfeit goods, poor quality goods, and violations of food safety is still complicated. Many subjects take advantage of e-commerce and online business to consume goods of unknown origin, making it difficult for inspection and handling.
The effectiveness of the fight is not high and there are still many difficulties, especially in areas such as intellectual property rights violations, e-commerce, online sales, dirty food, fake medicine, etc.

In addition, propaganda work has not been extensive, there are still gaps in management coordination between forces, violations of intellectual property rights, dirty food, and fake drugs still exist, seriously affecting people's health and market reputation.
To overcome this, the province will improve Steering Committee 389, establish a Commune-level Steering Committee, clearly define responsibilities, and closely coordinate between agencies. At the same time, increase the application of AI technology to detect counterfeit goods on e-commerce platforms, tighten management of import-export, production, advertising of food and medicine.
The Department of Industry and Trade will also step up propaganda, publicize the hotline reporting violations, organize the signing of a commitment not to produce or trade in counterfeit goods. Along with that, the province encourages the development of high-quality Vietnamese goods, building product brands to protect consumers and develop a healthy market.
From the beginning of 2024 to May 31, 2025, Nghe An authorities have inspected and handled a total of 8,339 violations, prosecuted 1,378 cases with 1,857 subjects, with a total fine of nearly 394 billion VND.
