Army general's term of office extended

    Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia's term as Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army was extended until November 30, 2025.

    Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has just signed Decision No. 1482/QD-TTg dated November 29, 2024, extending the service period and maintaining the position of Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army from December 1, 2024 to November 30, 2025.

    Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia is from Van Trung commune, Viet Yen district, Bac Giang province. Before 2013, Mr. Nguyen Van Nghia held the position of Division Commander of Division 325 (Army Corps 2).

    In 2013, he was appointed Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the 2nd Corps; in 2015, he held the position of Commander of the 2nd Corps and was promoted to the rank of Major General.

    Before holding the position of Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army (January 2020), Mr. Nguyen Van Nghia held the following positions: Deputy Commander, Chief of Staff of Military Region 2; Director of the Military Department (General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army).

    In March 2023, he was promoted from Lieutenant General to Senior General.
