Today, in a sacred, touching and proud atmosphere, we solemnly organize the 100th Anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21,25 - June 21, 2025) - a century of accompanying the nation, a glorious journey written by the intelligence, national soul, the spirit of the revolutionary attack, with the noble sacrifice and the tireless efforts of the people working in the Vietnamese revolutionary press. On behalf of the leaders of the Party, State, and Vietnam Fatherland Front, I respectfully send to you, leaders, former leaders of the Party, State, delegates, and generations of people working in the press, my deep gratitude and best wishes.
I also warmly congratulate those who are revolutionary journalists of Vietnam to receive the noble award award award award awarded by the Party, State and People for the second time: "Ho Chi Minh Medal" for their many contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.
Dear comrades and delegates,
On the journey to find a way to save the country imbued with national soul and the desire to bring a prosperous and happy life to the people, our Uncle Ho met Marxism - Lenin. The patriotic young man Nguyen Tat Thanh soon realized the especially important role of the press in the cause of national liberation and people's liberation. Revolutionary leader Nguyen Ai Quoc founded the Youth Newspaper, the mouthpiece of the organization "Vietnam Young Revolutionary Comrade Association". On June 21, 1925, Thanh Nien newspaper published its first issue marking the birth of the Vietnamese revolutionary press, sowing red seeds for a press line with the mission of national liberation, awakening the revolutionary will and spreading the light of Marxism-Leninism to the patriotic movement. This is not only the opening event for a new press, but this event is also a historic turning point of the Vietnamese Revolution, one of the important preparations for the birth of the Communist Party of Vietnam in 1930.
From that first "seed", with the guidance of Journalist Nguyen Ai Quoc, along with the strong development of the revolutionary movement, the Vietnamese revolutionary press has continuously grown strongly. Former revolutionaries and journalists such as Nguyen Van Cu, Ha Huy Tap, Le Duan, Truong Chinh, Vo Nguyen Giap, Phan Dang Luu, Nguyen Van Linh, Xuan Thuy... and later the late revolutionary and general secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and leaders, propagandists, and journalists who were leaders of the Party and State, left a deep impression through profound and theoretical articles on communism, patriotism, revolutionary inspiration, national pride, thereby propagating the theory, encouraging movements, organizing revolutionary forces, turning journalism into a sharp weapon in the struggle for national liberation, making land revolutions that reached the peak of the August Revolution in 1945 - the beginning of the Vietnam People's Army, ending the period of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, ending the period of the People's Socialist Republic, establishing the People's Republic of Vietnam as the foundation of the People's Army.
The 100-year history of the Vietnamese revolutionary press is a vivid testament to the great role of the pen in the struggle for national independence, building and defending the socialist Fatherland. When there is no Party, no Government, the Press is the spiritual flame of guidance, orienting ideas and guidelines, is the light to guide the future; gathering the masses, building the Party, building the State. In the smoke and fire of war, the press is a sharp weapon, stronger than bombs, tanks, and cannons, conveying the spirit of resistance, courage and aspiration for independence, calling on the entire nation to fight for liberation and unity. In building, protecting and developing the country, the press is a bridge between the Party, the State and the People, a trusting forum of the people, a strength, and a source of inspiration for the entire nation on the path to a rich, prosperous, independent, free, and sustainable future.
From manual print newspapers in the middle of the battlefield to today's multimedia press agencies, from handwritten articles under bombs and bullets to modern means applying information technology and artificial intelligence, the Vietnamese revolutionary journalists have affirmed their mettle, intelligence, commitment, creativity, and adherence to ideals, always sticking to practical life, joining the breath and rhythm of the people.
Throughout the country's renovation process initiated and led by our Party, the press is not only a witness but also a direct force promoting the process of reform, opening up and integrating internationally. The press has made an important contribution to the formation and development of a democratic, civilized, multidimensional and honest information society, contributing to raising people's knowledge, creating social consensus and strengthening power control, connecting the people with the Party, the Party with the People.
In recent years, our country's press has proactively innovated content, form, technology and journalism thinking. With nearly 800 press agencies, tens of thousands of journalists, reporters, editors, and a team of journalists who have been constantly creating and strongly applying digital technology, artificial intelligence, and advanced scientific and technological achievements to create a new, modern, humane, and close-to-people appearance, nuance, and content of journalism.
The press is also the main force in promoting the image of the country and people of Vietnam to the world, demonstrating Vietnam's solidarity and responsibility towards friends, progressive forces and the development of the world; the press is a means to spread national cultural values, arouse patriotism, development aspirations and affirm Vietnamese cultural identity in the era of integration. As a cultural product, journalism arouses the beauty of life, discovers and honors good examples, good deeds, creative models, effective ways of doing things, and multiplies positive values in society. Through humane works, the press contributes to shaping public thinking, promoting a beautiful lifestyle, spreading a sense of responsibility and aspiration to contribute, building Vietnamese culture and people to meet the requirements of sustainable national development.
In the context of a rapidly changing, complex and multidimensional world, revolutionary press always maintains its role as a pioneering force in maintaining political stability, strengthening social consensus, firmly protecting national sovereignty, proactively fighting against erroneous and hostile viewpoints, and protecting the Party's ideological foundation. As a sharp ideological weapon of the Party, the press has participated responsibly, actively and actively propagating the Party's guidelines and policies on digital transformation, sustainable development, environmental protection, preservation of national cultural identity and comprehensive and extensive international integration. In particular, in recent years, on the front line of the fight against corruption, waste and negativity, the press has made outstanding contributions. Many investigative reports and analysis articles have shed light on the truth, contributing to supporting authorities in handling violations, strengthening people's trust in the strictness of the law and political determination of the Party and State. In this field, journalism has become one of the sharp "sharpeners", bravely bringing the truth to light, protecting the right, preserving the good, fighting uncompromisingly against the wrong, the bad, the evil. In natural disasters and epidemics, especially the recent COVID-19 pandemic, the press has become a " frontline for information", spreading kindness, encouraging the spirit of overcoming difficulties and believing in victory.
It can be affirmed that the Vietnamese revolutionary press has been fulfilling its noble mission - creating trust, building consensus, spreading development aspirations, contributing to realizing the goal of building a strong, prosperous and happy Vietnam in the new era.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, I warmly commend and respectfully acknowledge the important contributions of the Vietnamese revolutionary press throughout the 100-year journey of construction and growth. The achievements of the Vietnamese revolutionary press under the leadership of the Party are the crystallization of ideals, tireless creative labor, and the spirit of dedication to the Fatherland and the People of generations of Vietnamese journalists.

The new era of the nation is opening a new development horizon, at the same time setting new revolutionary requirements with high determination and great aspiration to build a strong and prosperous country. In that context, the Vietnamese revolutionary press must further affirm its revolutionary spirit, pioneering role on the ideological and cultural front, being an ideological pillar, a driving force that creates trust and consensus in society; contributing significantly to multiplying humanistic and progressive values, strongly spreading the spirit of innovation, creativity, inspiring learning, labor, and dedication. The press must constantly innovate itself to develop commensurate with the stature of the times, with the development of the country, truly becoming a professional, humane, modern press, serving the cause of the Party, State and People on the journey to build and develop the country.
To meet that requirement, I recommend that press agencies and the team of journalists focus on performing well the following key tasks:
Firstly, in the new era of the Vietnamese people, press agencies and the team of journalists need to deeply realize their especially noble political and social responsibility towards the Party, State and People. Revolutionary press must be the voice of the Party, the State, the socio-political organization, the people's trust forum, the bridge connecting the Party and the people's hearts; perform well the task of bringing the Party and State's guidelines and policies to the people; create an environment for people to participate in press activities, reflect the people's legitimate thoughts and aspirations to the Party and the State, ensure the ideology, fighting spirit, and the people's character of the press; mobilize the people's strength to participate in building the Party and the political system to be increasingly clean and strong.
As soldiers on the front of cultural ideology, journalists must be exemplary in professional ethics, strong in ideology, political courage, loyal to revolutionary ideals, truly professional, good at their profession, professionalism, bravely fighting against negative manifestations, strong enough to withstand temptations; journalists must be a prestigious social activist; a person who does propaganda and mass mobilization work; actively participate in people's foreign affairs activities. In all circumstances, it is necessary to put the spirit of political responsibility, social responsibility and professional ethics first and foremost; each press work must perform well the function of providing accurate, objective, honest, humane and useful information. New-era journalists must constantly learn, improve their skills, and integrate modern technology.
Second, revolutionary journalism is an inseparable part of the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation, must have a spirit of revolutionary advances, be brave in fighting, eliminate bad things, stagnation and backwardness; actively encourage and motivate new things and progress; pioneer and be brave in the face of major and new problems of the country; do not avoid or make compromises with manifestations that hinder the revolutionary cause. It must truly become a guiding flag, inspiring creativity, encouraging the spirit of innovation and the desire to contribute among cadres, party members and the whole society. In the current revolutionary period, the press needs to breathe new vitality, arouse determination, patriotism, and dedication in the whole society, creating great and persistent spiritual motivation for the country's development in the new era.
Third, as an important component of cultural life, the press must clearly affirm its role in building an advanced Vietnamese culture with strong national identity; must actively participate in the cultural revival, developing modern and unique Vietnamese people. Each journalist and press agency must be a symbol of a cultural code of conduct, ethical standards and a spirit of social service; contribute to preserving and promoting traditional human values, spreading goodness and beauty; actively promote the image of the country and people of Vietnam to international friends; proactively receive the quintessence of human culture to enrich national cultural identity.
Fourth, in the face of digital transformation and fierce competition in the global media space, the press must quickly adapt, pioneer strong innovation in thinking, master technology, and make breakthroughs in journalism and information transmission methods. Increase the presence of revolutionary press on social networking platforms, maintain the information and propaganda front in the face of the development of cross-border platforms. This is an inevitable requirement for the press to be able to master the information and communication front in cyberspace and enhance the value of each press agency. Key press agencies such as Nhan Dan Newspaper, Communist Magazine, Vietnam News Agency, Voice of Vietnam, Vietnam Television, and some electronic information portals of central agencies need to focus on digital transformation, enhance cooperation and integration, play a good role in forecasting, perform the function of information orientation well, and be worthy of being "lightboards" for the country's revolutionary press system.
Fifth, innovate the thinking of leading, directing, and managing the press in the direction of building and creating an operating environment for the press to best promote the revolutionary nature, the mission of serving the country and the people. Clearly define the functions and tasks of each agency, resolutely do not do things for others, do not hold hands to direct work. Institutionalize the Party's policies and perfect the press legal system to ensure consistency, transparency, modernity and efficiency. Continue to effectively implement planning and reorganizing press agencies in the direction of streamlining, streamlining, and operating effectively, efficiently, effectively, and efficiently. There are solutions to overcome the overlapping of functions and tasks between press agencies; resolutely eliminate from the press team those who reduce fighting spirit, fade revolutionary ideals, violate professional ethics, violate regulations of agencies and organizations... Strengthen the application of science and technology, big data for analysis, evaluation, and synthesis of information, contributing to improving the quality of information orientation according to the motto of proactiveness, timeliness, persuasion, effectiveness, and closeness to reality. Build a mechanism for public and transparent ordering, and focus on supporting press agencies to effectively carry out political tasks, especially in key areas, strategic areas, and sensitive fields. Developing key national press agencies and groups to play an information orientation role; have appropriate mechanisms to develop revolutionary journalism.

Promoting the glorious tradition of 100 years of formation and development, Vietnamese revolutionary press must continue to rise strongly, affirming its pioneering role on the ideological - cultural front, serving the cause of national development. Vietnamese journalists must truly be shock soldiers, carrying steadfast political will, a spirit of innovation, and the desire to contribute and commit to the common cause of the nation. The press must become a force that creates trust, encourages development aspirations, and contributes to realizing the goal of building a strong, prosperous, and lasting Vietnam in the era of national growth.
