According to VNA, the Chairman of the Cuban National Assembly warmly welcomed General Secretary and President To Lam on his state visit to Cuba, affirming that the visit is an event of special significance in the relationship between the two countries, contributing to strengthening the traditional solidarity, special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba in the new period.
General Secretary and President To Lam expressed his joy at returning to visit the heroic country and people of Cuba, and thanked the President of the Cuban National Assembly for leading a high-ranking delegation of the Party, State and people of Cuba to Vietnam to attend the state funeral of the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
General Secretary and President To Lam emphasized that this state visit to Cuba demonstrates the special and consistent solidarity of the Party, State and People of Vietnam towards the Party, State and People of Cuba, as well as the importance of consolidating, deepening and enhancing the effectiveness of the traditional solidarity, special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba.
National Assembly Chairman Esteban Lazo Hernandez sincerely thanked the Party, State and People of Vietnam for always giving the Party, State and People of Cuba solidarity, close brotherhood, sincere support, selfless, pure and valuable assistance to the Cuban revolutionary cause in the cause of defending, building and developing the country.
National Assembly Chairman Esteban Lazo Hernandez affirmed that Cuba always values and wishes to further deepen the traditional solidarity, especially the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, States and Peoples.
General Secretary and President To Lam and National Assembly Chairman Esteban Lazo Hernandez highly appreciated the good development in the relationship between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Cuban National Assembly as well as the important contributions of the two National Assemblies, including Chairman Esteban Lazo Hernandez himself, to consolidating and enhancing the friendly and cooperative relations between the two Parties, States and peoples.
The two sides discussed and agreed on a number of major directions to promote and enhance the effectiveness of cooperation between the two countries' National Assemblies, contributing to strengthening the special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba.
Accordingly, the National Assemblies of the two countries will continue to implement cooperation agreements between the two sides; actively contribute to promptly removing difficulties, bringing bilateral cooperation to a new, more effective and sustainable stage of development; promote the role of law-making and supervision to promote the implementation of agreements between the two Parties and the two countries; promote the role of National Assembly deputies in cultivating special relations, enhancing mutual understanding, expanding people-to-people exchanges and cooperation between localities of the two countries, promoting public education about the special relations between the two Parties, the two States and the people of Vietnam and Cuba.
The Committees and agencies of the National Assembly of the two countries promote the exchange of experiences in law-making, perfecting socio-economic management policies, and enhancing cooperation at multilateral mechanisms and forums.
General Secretary and President To Lam asked National Assembly Chairman Esteban Lazo Hernandez, in his important position as Chairman of the National Assembly, together with the Cuban National Assembly, to actively support and promote measures to enhance the effectiveness of comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties and the two countries.
