The State visit of General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Thongloun Sisoulith and his wife to Vietnam took place in 2 days, January 26-27, 2026 at the invitation of General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam and his wife.

The fact that General Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith chose Vietnam as the first country to pay an official visit right after the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and the Communist Party of Vietnam just successfully organized the National Congress of each Party, has a very profound political and foreign significance.
This affirms the particularly high level of political trust between the two Parties, the two States as well as between the individual senior leaders of the two Parties and the two countries; and at the same time shows that the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and strategic cohesion between Vietnam and Laos are always identified as the top strategic priority in the foreign policy guidelines and policies of both countries.
