According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, at the meeting between General Secretary and President To Lam and General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, the two leaders affirmed that they will continue to pay attention to and closely direct relevant agencies to focus on effectively implementing high-level agreements, cooperation programs between the two Parties, the two countries and bilateral mechanisms.
The two General Secretaries and Presidents emphasized the value of solidarity between Vietnam - Laos and Vietnam - Laos - Cambodia; agreed to continue to coordinate with Cambodia to make the cooperation between the three countries more substantive and effective, meeting the practical needs of the three countries and in line with development needs in the new period, in which priority is given to strengthening cooperation and connecting the three economies of Vietnam - Laos - Cambodia.
At the meeting with Secretary General of the Francophone Louise Mushikiwabo, General Secretary and President To Lam suggested that the Francophone pay attention to promoting tripartite cooperation models to support African countries in the fields of agriculture and South-South cooperation, while continuing to step up the implementation of cooperation programs and projects in the fields of education, French language teaching, scientific research, and French-language startups.
The General Secretary and President also asked the Francophone community to continue to pay attention to and support ASEAN's efforts to maintain peace, security and stability in the region, including the East Sea, and to support the settlement of disputes by peaceful means, on the basis of respect for international law, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
At the meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, General Secretary and President To Lam suggested that the two sides increase the exchange of delegations at all levels; improve the effectiveness of existing bilateral dialogue mechanisms; make good use of opportunities of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) for increasingly substantive and effective economic, trade and investment cooperation; strengthen cooperation in responding to climate change; and actively coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums, including the United Nations and La Francophonie.
Prime Minister Trudeau affirmed that he will continue to promote the Comprehensive Partnership in priority areas and will continue to support Vietnam in participating in the United Nations peacekeeping force (PKO).
During the meeting with Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo, General Secretary and President To Lam proposed that Belgium soon complete the ratification process of the Vietnam - EU Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) and support the EC to soon remove the IUU "yellow card" on Vietnam's seafood exports; strengthen development cooperation and cooperation in the fields of renewable energy, logistics services, high technology, artificial intelligence, green development, education - training, cultural exchange; and coordinate to effectively utilize the Vietnam - EU Free Trade Agreement (EVIPA).
The Belgian Prime Minister said he would soon confirm the time of the Belgian King and Queen's visit to Vietnam; expressed his wish to soon pay an official visit to Vietnam at an appropriate time.
The Canadian and Belgian Prime Ministers, together with the General Secretary and President, discussed in depth regional and international issues of mutual concern, including ensuring peace, stability, security, safety and freedom of navigation and aviation in seas and oceans, including the East Sea; supporting respect for international law; resolving disputes by peaceful means, in accordance with international law, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
At the meeting between General Secretary and President To Lam and President and Minister of National Defense, Civil Protection and Sports of Switzerland Viola Amherd, the two leaders agreed to make efforts to conclude negotiations on the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA); continue to research and expand cooperation in the fields of education - training, science and technology, innovation, climate change response, digital transformation and green transformation, etc. to facilitate the elevation of relations between the two countries to a new level at the appropriate time.
President Amherd affirmed that Vietnam is a high priority partner in development cooperation; said he is ready to support Vietnam in implementing international commitments on climate change response.
At a brief meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, General Secretary and President To Lam affirmed that Vietnam wishes to promote multifaceted and substantive cooperation with Armenia to effectively exploit the cooperation potential between the two countries, especially in economics and trade.
The Armenian Prime Minister recalled the important agreements reached by the two sides during his visit to Vietnam in 2019; and asked the two sides to direct relevant agencies to closely coordinate to promote the good implementation of the signed agreements.
