General Secretary and President To Lam concludes state visit to the Philippines

General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife left Manila, successfully concluding their state visit to the Philippines.

On the afternoon of June 1, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, along with the high-level Vietnamese delegation, left Manila capital, successfully concluding a state visit to the Republic of the Philippines from May 31 to June 1, at the invitation of Philippine President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr. and his wife.

Within the framework of the visit, General Secretary and President To Lam held talks with President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr.

At the talks, the two sides agreed to issue a Joint Statement raising the level of Vietnam - Philippines relations to a Strategic Partnership enhancement, opening a new era of development for bilateral cooperation.

With the elevation of the relationship framework to a Strengthened Strategic Partnership, the two sides agreed to coordinate to jointly develop an Action Program to implement the new relationship framework in the coming time; agreed to strengthen political trust, consolidate a solid strategic foundation for the relationship between the two countries through strengthening contacts, high-level delegation exchanges, promoting cooperation mechanisms, strengthening relations on channels and between levels, sectors and localities of the two countries.

Receiving a number of organizations and businesses in the Philippines, General Secretary and President To Lam affirmed that Vietnam continues to improve the investment environment, creating favorable conditions for businesses to invest and do business in Vietnam, especially in key areas of science and technology, innovation and digital transformation.

At the meeting with officials and staff of the Embassy and the Vietnamese community in the Philippines, General Secretary and President To Lam wished the Vietnamese community in the Philippines to continue to unite, help each other integrate and well comply with local laws, actively participate in activities, make practical contributions to their homeland and promote friendly relations between the two countries.

Immediately after arriving in Manila to begin a state visit to the Philippines, on the afternoon of May 31, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, along with the high-level Vietnamese delegation, paid flower services at the Statue of President Ho Chi Minh in the ASEAN Flower Garden, located in Intramuros ancient citadel area, Manila capital.

Also on this occasion, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, along with the high-level Vietnamese delegation, paid flower services at the Jose Rizal National Hero Memorial.
